I am doing a serious HAPPY DANCE !!!!!! :D :D :D

9 Tarot decks and 1 junk picture deck
(only 1 deck is a duplicate of what I already have)

Silverlotus  14 Apr 2003
Congrats!

When you get them, would you post your impressions of the decks, especially Ishbel's? I had that once, many years ago, and I didn't care for it. I don't know what happened to it, but I wish I had kept it. :(

Pollux  14 Apr 2003
Woohoo great!!!

Well, if you consider that for that much you could have got three decks, and instead you get ten, that's just great!!!

Obviously, the best pick inside there is GILL! ;)
And Haindl, Isis and Ukyioe too are nice... the rest maybe is just... additions, but a very good occasion anyway!!!

CONGRATS!!! :D

Astraea  14 Apr 2003
Hey, you did great! That is a fine collection of decks, and I look forward to hearing your impressions of them, you budding Tarotholic, you! ;)

Trogon  15 Apr 2003
WTG LadyMedusa!! Wow... instant Tarot collection!!! Just add money... ;) Just kidding... you did great! Heck of a deal!

Khatruman  15 Apr 2003
Cool Beans for you!!! Congrats on the lot. Will give you much to play around with for a while. Tell us how you like the decks.

Cerulean  15 Apr 2003
I think Ishabel's Temple of Isis deck is out of print. If I find a link, I'll post...the link below describes the cards.

www.angelfire.com/ca2/IsisShrine/Ishbels.htm

The 'pictures only' section of TarotPassages.com says that it was a Llewellyn deck that is out of print, so you also have a rare deck as well as popular titles. That deck alone probably could have drawn your asking price to some willing fan.

The Haindl, Ukiyoe, Gill all have many different slants and I could see you enjoying different cultures and art for hours. Morgan-Greer, Native American and Deva also sound very interesting. I know of one friend who picked up the Tarot of the Witches for the James Bond reference.

So you have a well-rounded collection for the next few months...a very good bargain...

Can somebody explain why the mailman was looking at me so funny today? Just because I was sitting in a chair by the box waiting for him... I mean its not like I tried to search his jeep or anything...

ROFL
Wtg LadyMedusa! You got yourself a real bargain! :)

Cerulean  16 Apr 2003
out, especially the out of print deck...

And which ones do you feel best about in terms of 'getting to know'...I've never known anyone who was so fortunate to have ten decks at once, so it would be fun to hear what struck you right away, once you got the decks out of the boxes...

Thanks for your fun message.

LadyMedusa  19 Apr 2003
WOOHOO!!!!! .....the listing didn't mention that 4 were still shrink wrapped and 3 only looked at.... :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Pollux  21 Apr 2003
Hey LadyMedusa, get back!!!
I want to hear from your very own words what Gill looks like!!!

Would you like to be welcomed in the Secret Order of the Gilly Girlies? I'm the self-ordained President, and have boundless powers. ;) *LOL*

Cerulean  22 Apr 2003
Pollux,

You do know what 'girly' means in English? I'm still figuring it out.

Lady Medusa:

Which did you get in unwrapped (shrinkwrapped?) condition? That sounds wonderful.

Mari H.

Pollux  22 Apr 2003
No Mari, it was just there to have a version of "Girls" that rhymes better and smoother with "Gills" *LOL*

Still Wrapped
Deva, Tarot of the Witches, Ukiyoe, Gypsy Witch

Open looks like just looked at
(boxes show very minor wear from opening cards in order and mint)
Native American
Haindl (the only duplicate- I know for certain the one I got a couple of weeks ago has only been looked through so when I trade one it will be the one to go.)

(box shows some wear cards still in order and mint)
Ishbel's

Gently Used ?
(Box very minor wear from opening-cards out of order but clusters of cards still ordered might be just out of order from cuts while looking at or studying)
Gill

Used
(Box shows minor wear cards definantly shuffled some reversed but well cared for lots of life left)
Morgan-Greer

As for what I think of them? I have only looked through the open ones.

:D Gill- I really like this one. It feels comfortable. I believe it will be a good deck to read with. In just the brief look through, the majors seem fairly clear, and I like the uncluttered minors. It feels like it should be not to difficult to pick up on. I am going to get the book.

:) Native American- I have always had a fascination with North American Indian stories. I like the way they impart lessons in a way you can understand if you just let them speak to you. I have ordered the book for it. I think this one will be a study deck for a while. It won't be going anywhere for a while. Should I ever need to find it a new home I will check with you first Holmes.

:) Haindl- I like this one. It whispers. It's definantly going to be a challange. I have been getting it out when I feel I need more clues on a card than what I get from RTSP. I have ordered the books.

Morgan-Greer- I'm not to sure about it. The artwork doesn't really do anything for me. Strikes me as comic bookish. Maybe a "later on" but right now I don't think I try working with it for a while.

Isbel's- Pretty much the same feeling as with the Morgan. But...
I don't know much of anything about "Egyptian" so who knows maybe after a bit of study...

All in all the main reason I couldn't pass them up is because they are such a varied group. It seemed to be a wonderful chance to explore and grow. I am still concentrating on RTSP for the time being ...but I hear the Gill saying "pick me next".

GRIN!

:D

Welcome in the Club! ;)

*LOL*

Cerulean  22 Apr 2003
The Ukiyo-e has a great booklet and was my comfort deck for years...I used it with poetry and seasonal references and similarity to Hana Fuda playing cards in the minors.

If you ever want more Japanese resources, I have some low-cost recommendations. It is a soothing deck.

Mari H.

P.S. Rachel Pollack's New Tarot has a writeup on a few of those decks...I'll post later if interested.
