i got given a spiral tarot deck for easter, still in it's shrink wrap, i'd used it a couple of times when i got this powerful desire to see the high priestess.. running quickly through the deck i couldnt see her, so i sorted out the major arcana and found her gone. is there any significance to this other than i was given a faulty present?
thanks

If I were you, I would buy a piece of card stock board, trace the outline of one of your cards, cut it out, and draw a high priestess. The high priestess is all about inner guidance, inner wisdom and intuition, the cyclical and subtle wisdom of women. Trust your inspiration- and see what you come up with.

Lunaperse,
You might want to contact the publisher. Many people here have had this same experience. Some publishers are very good at replacing missing cards others are not. Good Luck! I hope you get a High Priestess for you Spiral Tarot deck!

thank you both for the advice, *G* very different advice but both useful... i like the idea of making my ownhigh priestess card for the deckl but i think that that will take a while (espescially with my newness to tarot... amazing how deeply inlove with tarot i seem to have fallen in such a short space of time) and at least for the meantime i do need somehting there... poor (i mean Lucky) publioshers to hear from me...

Mh... this is odd... The Spiral is not among the most infamous decks charaterised by lack of cards, but there always is a first time for everything! *LOL* ;)
I am sorry that happened to you, (((lunaperse))).
What I reccomend is first, look around and through and comb the area where you used your deck, the priestess might be hiding somewhere and tried an escape on her own... hehehe
I am still cr*p at shuffling (my Spiral knows that very well, the cards are all quite damaged around the borders) and I often drop cards as I go... I also say this cos I never heard of flawed Spirals, but i told ya there always is a first time! *LOL* So the priestess might have never reached the sealed deck in the first place...
Secondly, you could try to contact the publisher.
Never heard of very bad experiences in such cases, so go forth and no worry! ;)
As much as I appreciate the idea of creating a personal priestess (why not a personal deck!? hehehe), I aso believe you need to have that priestess. :)
The Spiral priestess is beautiful. It's the Pythia, the Oracle... I can't type down all that she tells me but she's just great and so so so full of symbolism and beauty.
You can take a peek here... ;)

I agree with Pollux - the first thing is to make absolutely sure the High Priestess hasn't gone AWOL in your home, rather than being missing from the original deck. Your psychic message to search for it may be because you dropped it or it fell down behind a cushion or got lost in some other way.
If you can't find it then contact the publishers and try to get a replacement - I'm not sure that making your own replacement card will work because you will always recognise it even face down and you might well develop a pattern of including it or excluding it from your readings.
I think that Pollux meant if you are going to design one new card you might as well go on and design a whole deck - and this is a really worthwhile project for you at some time - I certainly wouldn't knock it and I'm really impressed with Belladonna's achievement. One day I hope I'll be able to do the same.

lunaperse -- I believe that your original question was whether or not it is significant that you cannot find your High Priestess card (whether it is simply misplaced in your home, or absent from the deck altogether). Something similar happened to me, and I believe it meant that unconsciously, I missed seeing the card when I initially looked through the deck, but its lack didn't register; the sudden intense longing you felt to see the High Priestess might have represented the "click" of recognition when your brain realized that the card wasn't in the deck. Perhaps that sounds mechanistic, but consider why -- at that particular moment -- your mind registered the card's absence. Were you thinking about some situation that the High Priestess card (according to its general significations) might have been able to clarify, or shed light upon? Just a thought.
In any case, US Games' customer support service is very responsive. Their website, www.usgamesinc.com, lists e-mail addresses where you can write them about many concerns. I am sure that they will replace the card, if you do not find it around your home.
