I have both. I personally prefer the Celtic Dragon over the dragon. Both asre lovely decks, but I find the Celtic easier to work with.
Hope this helps.

Hi!
The Celtic Dragon was my first deck.. a little hard to work with for my first but I guard it with my life now :). I don't really use it as often as some of my others, more less for 'special' times :). After learning more about tarot I found the deck rather easy to work with. I've heard people comment on the fact that they wished more dragons were portrayed instead of humans. Of course those same people never owned the deck and never used it. (at least thost that I talked to) I have never found this aspect of the cards to be a bother to me. Conway didn't make the deck to be used with reversals. I'm sure they can be, I don't use reversals hardly so I never found this a problem. I'm sure that you will enjoy them when you receive them as much as some of us have. :)
Blessings,
Amaya

i REALLY wanted the celtic dragon to be my first deck :D mmmm dragons...mmm *Drool* (well first real deck after my horrid experence w/ the witches tarot which almost got me out completely) but it seemed people thought that a rider deck would be easier to learn off of. which i'd have to agree with them so far. i havn't had it for a week and i'm feeling more and more comfortable with it each day. :D
i've never not used reversals, i know this has been covered in numerous other threads, however i was wondering if i use reversals now w/ my rider deck would it be easy to switch to non-reversals of the celtic dragon? do you just read it as the whole spectum of meanings. wouldn't that make it less acurute?

I wasn't sure which one to go for when I wanted a dragon deck - I'd been looking at the Celtic Dragon and the Dragon Tarot, trying to compare them. I was so sure that it would be the Dragon Tarot but when I saw the whole deck online I didn't like it - too many dragons in un-natural poses so I went for the Celtic Dragon which mixes Dragons and people and looked a better deck.
I can't read with the Celtic Dragon tarot at all :D but I love looking at the artwork lol

I love both the dragon and the celtic dragon.
The dragon looks to me a bit like "cartoon dragons" with lots of funny details sometimes, for example the hierophant has a puppet on a string with him and the hanging dragon is sort of gliding down his tree... I never managed to read with it accurately though...
The celtic dragon I also love it is a bit sweeter than the dragon.
It is also easier to read with IMHO.
If you use reversals now and you are happy with that, I would just do that with the celtic dragon as well. I see no reason why you could not do that - I always read the celtic dragon with the same meanings as the rider-waite so you can read reversals the same way as you do with the r-w.
Maybe Conway said the deck is not meant for reversals because she does not want the pretty pictures to be turned upside down ;)
You can also try to do without reversals - but I think you said you have not been reading for long ? Then I think it is easiest to stick to what you are used to for the time being, you don't want to learn too much at once.
