Question about the Fey deck...

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 06 Apr 2003, and now archived in the Forum Library.

I've found the Fey deck in an online store in Holland. It only costs 20 Euro's, though Amazon asks 30 Dollars for it. Does this mean I'll only get the book or something? Or simply that it's cheaper here... ?

/me wants it! :D

darwinia  06 Apr 2003
Hi,

Check what the ISBN number is listed, that might tell you if it's the deck itself or the book you are buying.

This is the ISBN for the book and deck *set*:
0-7387-0280-3

I bought mine in a dutch store and it cost me about 18 euro something... The going rate for lo scarabeo decks here :)

Anyway it was without a book and i found out that lo scarabeo's Dutch connection ( koppenhall) only sells without the book so the dek you saw might just be the deck

Good luck and i really like that you want it!!! It is an amazing deck! ( o and please join the study group wen you have it :) )

Athara  06 Apr 2003
Hm, the ISBN of this one is different... I do want the book with it! I'll have to look further I guess... Any idea where to look? International would be ok, if the shipping rates are reasonable...

I'll definately join the study group once I have it!

Thanks!

I found this on Amazon.co.uk:

The Fey Tarot
Riccardo Minetti, Mara Aghem
US List Price: $29.95
UK Equivalent: £22.49
Our Price: £20.24
You Save: £2.25 (10%)

Could that be the one including the book?

Yes, I just looked in the Llewellyn catalogue and the boxed set is listed as $29.95 U.S.

Lovely set, I hope you can get it Athara. I've had a lot of fun working with single cards and stories.

Athara  06 Apr 2003
Well, it'll cost me a bunch, but I'm sure it'll be worth it! It had better be... :P

I notice a lot of people here trading decks almost immediately after they get them, which I always think is a pity.

If you don't like the deck right away, give it some time. Familiarize yourself with the cards, compare them to other decks, do some writing exercises and readings. Maybe a bit of journalling, discussing what you see and making a story--that kind of thing. Talk about puzzling aspects of the cards on the forum or a study group for the deck here.

It takes time but you get a greater feeling of connection and depth with your cards and they soon become favourites. It's what you put into them, it's the way you weave your experience with them into your life that gives them worth.

So if you don't feel instant gratification, don't give up.

Thanks for the advice! I already have the Faeries Oracle, and I seem to connect to the Faeries very well. I'm sure they'll help me connect to this one. I really HAVE to buy it, so I'm sure it'll turn out all right... :)

But, if all else would fail (which I highly doubt), I'm glad I might be able to make someone else happy with it.

Love and luck,

Athara

if You live in the NL, you could try to contact Alida ( www.alidastore.com ) or the LoScarabeo UK distributor (Deep Books or Eastgate resources - can't remember the link, but they should be pretty easy to find).
They all carry the Kit edition and You will probably save on the shipping fee.

best,

Riccardo

Thanks! I found the Fey at Alida's, but I'm not sure if the book is included... The other two don't seem to have they Fey Tarot... I'll keep looking!

Thanks again!

RiccardoLS  07 Apr 2003
I would send them a mail...
1. you are sure.
2. websites and online catalogues are not always updated >:(

Both Alida, DeepBooks and Eastgate should have BOTH the deck only and the Kit edition. Price for the deck only will be around 18-20 Euro. Price for the kit should be around 30 Euro.
Alida should also have the "book only" at least on request.

Best,

Riccardo

Athara  07 Apr 2003
Alright, I'll certainly do that!

Thanks again,

Athara

I have the deck on its own and also the book on its own, both from Alida. The benefit is that you get the LWB with the deck as well as the book, I may be wrong but judging from other posts if you get the set then you don't get the LWB.

I've dealt with Alida by e-mail, and they are really helpful and answer quickly (Argeo seems to be Chief Answerer, so 'they' = Argeo :D) .

No, you don't get the LWB with the set, but Riccardo Minetti, who posts on this site, will gladly send you a pdf file of the LWB.

Athara  07 Apr 2003
I've found it on Amazon.com, much cheaper than at Alida's... Even including shipping! I'm going to order it tonight (need my dad's credit card, since I don't have my own :S). Yay! :D

Of course I'll be using the AT link :D.

Too bad about the LWB... I don't think Alida's will send it as a PDF when I don't order it with Amazon...

Yes, I can. I will :)
Just send a mail to riccardo@loscarabeo.com or to info@loscarabeo.com, and I will send You the LWD as either a Pdf or Doc File.

Riccà :)

I read it too quickly... *blushes*

Thanks Riccardo!
