ps: the reason why i want to get the deck's name is because i want to see more pics from the creator's page and decide if i bid or not

I could be wrong, but this looks like a bootleg to me.

i don't know if it is a bootleg (BTW i learnt a new word today ;-) ) but the author said that the deck will be published in OCTOBER 2003 by US Games. So I don't know what this ebay deck is but i prefer to wait and buy the "right" stuff.

Thanks very much for the warning, otherwise, i might have gone for it and would have been disappointed maybe?

Kat, the creator of the Golden Tarot, posts to this forum, so I PMed her to call her attention to this auction. She has had problems before with people stealing her artwork, unfortunately. I look forward to the publication of the real thing.

I e-mailed her through her site about it & included a cut & paste copy of the illustration the person used on ebay. Hopefully she can get the auction pulled. Would it be considered 'theft'? At least enough so that ebay would stand by the original artist you think?

Thanks guys!! Yep, it's my deck, bootlegged AGAIN... *sigh*

I've let USGS know. As I signed over copyright it's now their problem. I'm sure they're more likely to be able to stop bootlegging than I was myself. I guess the best defence is that any bootleg will look ****e compared to the real thing, as they've ripped it off at screen resolution from my site. Only US Games and I have the high resolution print files, and I promise they look a hundred times better than some trashy version ripped off the web.

On the plus side, I'm so happy to have so many people contacting me every time someone tries to rip off my deck now. I feel like I have a personal army of noble defenders :)

Latest news is still for an October 2003 release. There's a thread on Aeclectic for GT if anyone wants more info:

Thanks again, ever-so!

Hi Kissa & Retrokat!

Kissa, thanks for bringing this one up. It is a deck I'm holding my breath for... I want this Tarot deck!

Anyway... there was a clue of sorts on the auction page that this was probably a boot-leg copy ... even without knowing it was Retrokat's Golden Tarot....

Quote:
from auction page
High quality print from an European cd room , the deck has no name.
(italics are mine - Trogon)

In spite of the fact that the person who wrote it can't type very well... he or she does indicate that the deck was copied from another source... one which turns out to be a bootleg copy to begin with... harrumph. These types of phrases are ones to watch for...

retrokat  21 Apr 2003
The bootlegger was lying about the "from a European CD" anyway - I have proof that she emailed me directly last year, and sourced the larger images that were on my site at the time. Ironically, she emailed me in reply to my mailout about the previous commercial piracy. Luckily, I keep my email archives so I can prove that she pirated the deck knowingly.

It's sort of depressing that receiving an email about me being pirated seemed to give her the idea to pirate my deck herself... *sigh*

Luckily, for one loser compulsive-liar so-called fan, I have a load of supportive, trustworthy and loyal ones :D
