i am beside myself at the moment...while flipping through a book i got the other day i noticed the most gorgeous "Temperance" i've ever seen...it was similar to the RWS deck, however, the background was black...the archangel still had one foot in the water, one foot on land, still pouring from one chalice to the other...still had the triangle on the chest...there was no "thingy" on the forehead (or am i remembering something else?)...anyway...the colours were very irridescent...almost 'phosphorus'...the wings were multi-hued and there was still the bright sun in the background...i looked in the back of the book for credits and couldn't find anything worthwhile...i looked through ALL the decks listed here and most of the ones on some other tarot sites and couldn't find anything that matched...i am beside myself, truly b/c this is the most beautiful thing ever...anyone have any ideas?

Hi, AM!
You could try doing a search onTarot Garden's website -- they have several 'Waite' decks pictured there, although the samples don't show a Temperance like the one you describe.
I'm wondering if it's the Albano-Waite, though, since that deck has such strong colors.
That's about all the ideas I have...good luck on your search!
Peace,
Melvis

What is the book that you saw it in? Chances are, one of us has the book.

sorry Mari, i forgot to mention the book title...it's The Book of Chakras by A. Wauters...it's a really basic book (i got it on a whim)...i think the card is on page 125...
Melvis, i got through about half of the decks in Tarot Garden...i will do a more intensive search tomorrow when i have more time...:) thanks for the suggestion! it wasn't an exact RWS clone...more like "very close but not quite"...i will let you know if i find anything like it, maybe someone has it?

p. 41 and 124 have the Archangel Michael listed in the index...is that the picture? Archangel Michael is attributed to Temperance.
I saw another title by her on Chakras and Their Archetypes and if all goes well, I may have a credit/gift certificate coming on Amazon.com soon...
Another thought, if you were talking about a radiant, luminious image, the Illuminated Tarot by Carol Herzer might be the one.

Joan Cole has a page on Rider Waite clones, if you need that url, as well, for colorful styles of Rider Waite Smith workalikes.

Thanks for posting. Some of these are very pretty and I've not looked at them in awhile.

My sister's favorite angel oracle is this one. I thought she sounded familiar. Is there a New Age store nearby that might have this angel oracle deck with a sample deck so you can see if you can find the angel card? These look more old, like a manuscript.
I did a web search on archangel Uriel using google, just checking out images. You might find many gorgeous pictures that way, too.
What a fun find.
Take care,

thanks again, Mari...
actually, i did do an 'image' search on google for the archangel uriel and did not come up w/anything that matched...but you are right, the images were lovely...
i even looked through art.com to see if i could find anything...nothing :(
so, i then did an image search on google for Temperance...
and i found it!!!! :D
it is from a 22 major arcana deck designed by Dorothy Krause
the card: Temperance
another image: Temperance
all cards: index of cards
so, here is the card i was looking for...i'm 99.9% sure this is the image that was used, since the flowers on the right match perfectly...though in the image in the book, the card's background looks darker...but i don't care...:) i'm in love!! ;)
it's listed here on Aeclectic under 'unpublished' decks...i did a search, found the artist's site and she has named it The Millenium Tarot...i have not been able to find any info regarding it's sale...so, if anyone knows anything about this deck and whether it has been published or not, please let me know!!! thanks a bunch!!
many blessings...

i heard from Dorothy Krause...she said she's created minor arcana too...but that there are no plans to publish it :(
she mentioned that she might make a 'poster' w/all the cards that could be 'cut out' and assembled...i want to cry!!! :( i so want this deck...i'm crushed i tell you...crushed...
*azure slinks off to corner to weep*
*sniff* *sniff*

Really? That might be a project to cut out all the cards and laminate to backs...but on the other hand, the poster might be less expensive and with a paper cutter, maybe the project to put on card backs might be less negative than it seems. There used to be a set of blank cards to go with a workbook--called Inspiration Tarot (by Nancy Garen??)
Maybe the artist would also be encouraged to put a small spiral bound commentry of her cards, as well. It might make a nice tarot project set for fans certainly. Maybe the beautiful images together with such a project would inspire nice backs and encourage the interacting fan to get to know the cards.
I've seen her website before and never thought to ask about minors. Kudos to you and thanks for posting.

Gosh...
I cannot believe, someone makes a beautiful, no STUNNING!, deck like that - and then not have it published! Why?
Oh well. Thanks for sharing the links - I would buy that deck in an instant if it was available. :)

I can think of plenty of reasons: no publisher interested, not having the money to self-publish, not being able to get clearance to use the artwork (in the case of a collage-style deck like this)...
