Does anyone recognise this deck which is being offered on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2928391833

The seller says: Yes there are 78 cards plus 2 which have fortune justice, judgement The
creation world, Guardian, Death for the lunar world, solar world and
stellar world on the front of the cards there is a chap who has corn hair
and looks as though he has an eagle as shoulders and a twin serpernt as a
neck .

Any ideas anyone?

are there pictures other than the moon card on the deck? that's all i saw. it looks very familiar but i can't place a name on it. because a female image is in the moon, i tend to think it is one of the more feminist decks.

All I've seen is what you see. I mailed the seller for more details, and the only details are the ones I've given you. I've no idea from this if it is a good deck or a rubbishy one, so I was hoping someone might recognise it. The one picture looks pretty but I'd love to see more.

I LOVE IT however,, (means good graphics )_

the dog should be on the right and the moon on the left,
the moon should be 18 not one.
that creature is indistinguishable for me but it isn't a lobster or crab.

let me know what deck it is called for i need to know what it is.

I think it might be the Merlin Tarot, which has non-standard ordering for the Majors.

Hi all,
Yes, it is definately the Merlin Tarot.

HOLMES  11 May 2003
ah no wonder i never knew for i never really took a look at that deck due to the minors being non illustrated
(in other words they are just the stand 6 cups next to each other in a pattern fairy hedgehog)

dont' know if that will make a differnce to you :O)

Actually, the suits are Fishes, Beasts, Serpents and Birds, and although they are not fully illustrated they have a nice Celtic-knot sort of look. In general I do like the artwork on this deck, but the non-standard Majors and suits turned me off.

Merlin Tarot yes.

I wouldn't bid on it though... It's not the best deck in the world, it changes all the ordering of the Majors and alot of their meanings, and the Minors I found virtually unreadable. Pretty pictures though!

decks by rj stewart tend to go by a philosophy he developed. dreampower is the other one. definitely more nontraditional than nontraditional decks. you won't be able to read them by tarot rules we use here. they are very intuitive decks from what i've read. i have both but more b/c rj stewart fascinates me.

if you want to learn more about him, he has a website. just do a web search on him. he has also written a few books. i recently bought a couple by him. one is "earthlight: the ancient path to transformation rediscovering the wisdom of celtic and faery lore". if i'm not mistaken, the merlin deck is about druidism. how i'm not certain. rj definitely goes down the path not traveled by.

Thank you all so much for your insights. I had no idea that the Merlin deck was so non-standard. I'm just off to look around those websites and do a google on rj stewart.

It seems a fascinating deck but do I need yet one more deck?

(Clue: the correct answer begins with an 'n' :) )

Keslynn  12 May 2003
Yes begins with an "n"? I never knew! Everyone needs another deck.

Abebooks.com, Amazon.com and there was a great link to an overstock online bookseller...they have great prices lower than bidding on ebay.com, I believe. I think I've seen Merlin listed in more than a few places.

...would that answer be...necessary?

...or...never too many decks?

...or...never mind food ,gotta get the deck?

...or...now where do I put this one?

:D

ROFL at keslynn and xouroboros :)

I have resisted! I am trying hard to stay with the number of decks I already have. Trading, that's the only answer, trading.

I can kick this habit if I try.
