Kalevala: OOP?

I'm just wondering if the Kalevala Tarot is out of print... I think I heard a rumour a while back that it was, but I'm not sure... I have the deck myself, which I found in Glastonbury last year, but I've also just found it at the R.Somerville site:

www.playingcardsales.co.uk

for £12.50.

This has confused me: IS it out of print?

I also have the Kalevala set, and I consider it one the centerpiece's of my collection.

I checked the US Games website, and the Kalevala is not listed among their offerings. I do not know if this means the same thing as being out of print.

Amazon (US) lists it as out of print, but has some new and used copies beginning at around $68.

This is one I want, but other decks keep getting in the way. I found it at Isis Books for $14.95. Perhaps it's a second printing, because I've seen it listed as OOP also.

OOP doesn't necessarily mean unavailable. OOP means that the printer stopped printing it, but there still might be plenty of stock in certain stores. Just don't tell them that it's OOP or they might raise the price! ;) Of course, it is also possible that there's a second printing.

I've seen it as both the Deck alone and the Deck/Book Set, and it seems as though the Deck only is more available.

Also, I see some places that list it as available, but then you look at how long it takes to get it, and it's 3-5 weeks or so.

So, I'm thinking we're in the final stages of availability on this one. However, there's no telling how long it will last, though. It seems like some decks are available for years after they've gone 'Out of Print' by the publisher, and others are just suddenly gone!

Peace,

Melvis

Sometimes the extinction of the presence of a deck no longer printed is hastened by clearance sales. :)

A problem with a deck rapidly facing extinction is that I feel 'compelled' to buy a copy of it even though it's not a deck I would normally otherwise purchase. :( Especially if it's on clearance sale. :)

I got my deck/book set from the used Tarot box at a local occult bookstore. Its in great condition, and I have no idea why its going the way of the dinosaur.

This deck is well done, and has decent artwork. I don't know if its true to the epic which inspired it; perhaps some Finnish Aeclectians can answer that.

Perhaps its demise is the fact that it isn't witchy enough or have crayola style artwork.

I just checked on the AG Müller site, and it does seem to be out of stock. I suppose they just need to print up another batch, it is still listed.

You have a local occult bookstore... Which has a use Tarot box???!!! I'm coming to live with you Divinerguy! ;)

On a more serious side-note, if you see any decks in that used Tarot box that might be of interest to the discerning collector (When you read discerning, read: 'Will buy anything that has Tarot on the box') please please please send out the word... })

Next time I visit the store, I'll make a list. The store has a website as well. http://controversialbookstore.com/

The book seems to be available cheaply on Amazon - but the cards are fetching upwards of $150.

Oh when oh when will it be reprinted, sob...

I want this deck myself.
I was in Finland and didn't buy it. years ago...
I was here in the states and didn't buy it. years ago...

And now, I can't find it reasonable...but, divinerguy, he knows about that place.........})
