Hey all,

been looking at the deck of dreamers. for those who hasnt seen it, here's a link.

http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/cezanne/191/deck.htm

i thought the drawings are really beautiful but somewhat lacking in symbolic meanings.

also, i thought some of the drawings are teetering on the brink of negativity... eg, the 9 of swords - oh man.. so much blood there..
also, the death card.. wow! .. overwhelms me man!

also, the expression as well.. eg, the empress.. hmm.. wonder why she has an unsure look on her face..

how about u guys? what do u guys think of the deck? let's talk about this deck shall we?

:)

Hi Alexis,

Have you seen the thread on this deck in the "Creation" forum?
I don't have a lot to say about it myself to be honest (I like The Fool anda couple of other cards very much, but in general this style is not my kind of thing - but that's just one opinion, I agree that it's very well done, just doesn't much appeal to me). However, if you haven't seen the thread, you'll find a lot more discussion on this deck there.

Best wishes,

Karen

PS - actually, I had another look just now and I'm probably being too negative about this deck. It IS very interesting, although it still doesn't "chime" with me. However, I can well see why you'd like to discuss it further :-)

Hi, thanks for the interest, and I do agree with you. The symbolism was lacking very much in several of the cards, but I've been fixing that in my "revamp." The problem(?) was originally that the deck was more of an art deck than anything, and not really intended for hardcore tarot readers. I've changed my mind about that, and I am trying to fix it up to be more powerful. I would suggest seeking the thread in Tarot creation as mentioned, as it explains what I am trying to do in detail, as well as my background.

As for the artistic style, I've only got one...some people feel it suits them, some don't. That's one of the first things you accept as an artist ;)

Ha! Alexis, you didn't know the artist was a member of this site, did you?

But on the plus side, you can talk directly with them about the cards--let 'em know what you want to see!

oh man!!!!
wow! hahah... *speechless*

- yeah.. i .. din know they are members here too... WOW!
haha.. this is so cool...

*blush*

I have sent many emails over the past 2 years about the availability of this deck but never received a reply.

I suppose that means it is not ......

The email account associated with that deck has become a massive pool of spam. I have so many mail filters on it, I'm surprised anything still gets through. I was trying to keep up with any questions about tarot that came in, but I guess I missed a few, my apologies :)

The Deck was never available, got rejected by publishers on its first run, but I'm hoping to change that on the next one!

hi Ethan,

when do u think your deck will be out? :) :) :)

EthanPetty  20 May 2003
It will be a while before I am finished with the revamps...it takes me 1-3 days for each card and I am up to the Emperor, if that puts things into perspective...so it will be a while before they are ready, unfortunately.
