Well, not really.
But that urge hit. You know, the I've got to have a NEW deck!
So I checked out Overstock.com and I ordered the Handl, which has been on my wish list forever, and Rachel Pollack's companion book, for a total just under $23 with shipping. It will be a complete change for me, all my other decks are RW or RW clones. My first non illustrated minors, too.
Wish me luck. I'm hoping this will help me over my current tarot funk.

Woof, I love the Haindl deck and that is an excellent price for the cards and book. The artwork is beautiful and Pollack's books seldom disappoint -- let us know your impressions, when you've had a chance to review the combo.

I think it is a very good choice, and the deck will offer much that you will be able to study. Overstock.com does have some great deals. If I ever decided to get over my aversion to "primitive" artwork (which, to me, would just be an excuse not to be a good artist... which I am not, so I am not going to draw something and call it "primitive"), I might get the Shining Tribe, which is cheaper there than I have seen anywhere.
Then again, I have to put myself on moratorium on deck buying, especially since the low fund summer is coming up.. :D.
Good luck with the Haindl. I hope you get a lot out of it.

Hey Woof! I got the Haindl not too long ago myself... you got a great deal on that set! Its a great deck for readings... at least so far... ;) I've used it for a few readings and have gotten very good results with it.
As for the minors, I wouldn't say they were unillustrated. The illustrations are very different from the RWS and clones. But, even though the colors are somewhat muted and some of the illustrations are a bit understated (comparitively speaking) they can still speak volumes.
Looking forward to your report on this deck after you receive it.

I love the images! It's a great learning deck and Rachel Pollack's book is a valuble tool for understanding the deck. They both have added greatly to my understanding and appreciation of the tarot. I haven't used it for readings yet, I don't get to read for others often and have just finished a first study through of the book and cards.
I wish the deck were a tad smaller, though. It is a little bit longer than my other decks but just enough to make shuffling a bit of a challenge. My fingers are starting to get a touch of arthritis. I need to physically work with the cards longer to soften them up and acclimate my hands to the feel of the larger deck.
Even if the artwork puts you off, I would recommend this deck and book to everyone. Lots of good stuff here.
Woof.
Trogon: I still consider the minors unillustrated!

I used to think this about many of my decks. And then one day I picked up the Sacred Circle & could shuffle it with no problem. My hand cartilage must have stretched from use !!
I like the Haindl a lot- very moody & rich. Intensely symbolic. One card I am not fond of- I think it is the Daughter of Cups- she looks like a man.
