I have it; I really like the philosophy of it (I have the book as well) but the cards themselves are,
well, ugly. Ugly and badly drawn. Can't get over it.

Earthy and primitive is the style of art used in the Motherpeace deck.
The artwork is intended to evoke feelings and emotions, in a tribal, communal manner. Sisters of nature, so to speak.
I like the deck for its round shape. In the past, I experimented with readings with changing energy levels, and a round deck is perfectly suited for that task.
My only beef is that the deck is pro-feminine, sometimes to the point of misandry. For some, including me, this is a turn off. I still have the deck, and will again use it when the need arises.

There are a fair few threads on this deck from memory if you search. Also worth searching on 'round decks' since it has been mentioned in some of those threads.
I really like the deck for readings. I have the small one not the large one, and I find the artwork rather soothing and that the deck tends to kind yet pointed readings.
I think that you can use it without buying the 'masculinity is a bad thing' message, I know I do. I have the book as well: I sort of filter some of the more extreme negatives when I read.

Thanks for the input.
I like the idea of a really feminine deck. I really need some
feminine energy. I'm surrounded by males all the time. I'm always either putting the toilet seat down or wiping it up. LOL
Thanks again !!!!

I have the motherpeace, and use it for myself, but not for clients.
I think it's less a "Pro-Feminine" deck and more of "far left wing feminist" deck. A true "Pro-Feminine" deck would not be "Anti-Male", because being pro feminine does not inherently imply an anti male stance. I wonder why someone who was pro feminine would be considered anti masculine. That would be like someone claiming that they didn't hate men, they just loved women. How bloody ridiculous.
I'm an equalist, myself.

i have the mini version of the MP. for some reason i found the larger version a turn off but the mini is okay. i think if one has a more objective rational thinking style, the strong feminist subjectivity can be overlooked. other feminist decks that are similar in style are the mother peace and the self-published wild woman. it's my opinion that these three tend to be down on men. i like the art on the wild woman best. despite the extremism of their messages, i still think these deck contribute much to the tarot world.
i may be wrong but i consider the dance of life, goddess, shining tribe and transformation to be feminist yet not anti-male like the above decks. i know rachel pollack even changed her deck "the shining woman" to shining tribe so as to not exclude men.

For some time I've been looking for a deck that I like as much as the Motherpeace deck. I still haven't found one. (Any suggestions anyone?) It's the depth and meaning of the cards that has me hooked. Each card is so powerful, and has so much to say. This is an excellent deck for deep work, ie. growing and learning. I do readings for others, and I will often read the definitions right out of the book ("Motherpeace, a Way to the Godess). The definitions are clear, profound, and, believe it or not, 100% useful. Ask a question, pick a card, and you will ALWAYS get an answer that resonates deeply, if you take the time to absorb the meaning. I have come to trust the cards completely.
I began by using the Motherpeace deck for doing readings for myself, for inner clarity and growth. I still use them for that, and they are unfailingly honest and reliable: just like having a mirror held up for me, by a loving universe.
I came to know the cards so well that I now do professional readings with the deck. They are as good at reading for others as they have been for myself. The art is admitedly primitive, but very eloquent in conveying the meaning and message of the cards. I highly recommend the deck for women.
Not surprisingly, however, this does seem to be a more useful deck for women than for men It seems to address their concerns better than those of men. I'm looking for a deck that is more suited to men; a deck that has more gender-neutral images, and also a depth of meaning in the cards. ...I just got the Rider/Waite deck, and, as much as I'm trying to like it, it's just not working out for me. The expressions of the faces, the colors and vibrations of the cards, are often so similar that the cards loose their individual meaning for me.
As far as the Motherpeace deck being anti-male, I don't agree. I can see how some would say that at first glance: The images are predominantly women, and the worst cards in the deck show predominently men. However, in reading the books that go with the deck, I personally did not leave with a lesser sense of men, but rather a greater sense of what it means to be a spiritual woman. I didn't know what a matriarchal or patriarchal society was until I read some of the material in the books. It's quite profound stuff, and not anti-male in any way. It's given me a whole new perspective on things; one which has allowed me more inner peace and respect of life (both male and female life!) ;)
Of course, the true test of the deck (in terms of being male-friendly) came a few years ago, when I broke up with my boyfriend, and the deck showed me clearly that I had made a mistake! More importantly, it helped me clarify my needs, so I could communicate them fairly to him. We are now happily married, and my husband and I are both glad that I have this deck! It is just so USEFUL.
