I was watching this HK film called "Lucky Star" and the female actress did a reading with her tarot cards. The deck looked strangely familiar, but I can't find it through browsing tarotgarden...anyone help?
It's sorta medieval style, colourful. At the bottom of the card are large medieval-style printed words ("Tower", "Hermit", etc).
The name of one of the cards is "Nothing".
Thanks.

"Nothing" is the name of one of the cards. It was in a HK cantonese film called "Lucky Star" starring Miriam Yeung.

i found this:
http://www.cantonkid.com/MyLuckyStar.htm
reading through it i can only think that it could be that you saw mahjong cards. usualy mahjong is on tiles, but i believe that on ocation it is produced as a deck of cards.
atleast I have a set of mahjong cards, 3 or 4 of which are given the name of "nothing"...
what do you think?
i'll scan some to show you.

But Tarotgarden.com just posted the Chinese Pandora's Tarot, issued in 2001, so I looked to see if there were other Chinese tarots. I did a search on tarotgarden.com in the advanced search under the country "China" and a page of titles came up. The Passion Tarot has English names under titles

Maybe you could also check under other Asian countries listed and find it...

Hey! I took a look at all the links (Mari's one doesn't seem to work). I'm pretty positive the cards used were not Chinese style tarots in any way. Rather, it looked like a Medieval style tarot 'coz the words were in large gothic print. It had the traditional cards such as "Hanged One", "Devil", etc.
I'm still searching for it.......thanks to all who helped! })

Could it be the Medieval Scapini?
It's in medieval style, colourful, and with Gothic captions. I don't know though whether it has a card that is called "Nothing".

One of the pictures of the review of the Chinese movie "My Lucky Star" shows a neat wheel in the background, looks like some style of astrology? Are they Chinese or medieval pictures?:
http://movies.lycosasia.com/reviews/7000048920_C.html
The movie review also talks about astrology and Feng Shui.
My former links were to Tarotgarden.com and their search engine. If you try entering "My Lucky Star" in their search engine or "China" as country of origin under advanced search, it might yield something...anyway these might be hints. Renting the movie for someone might yield some more clues. I didn't see English subtitles?

yes, i've been thinking about renting that movie.
the thing is, the main focus of the movie is on feng shui, and the tarot card bit was a quick roll over to demonstrate how the actress is a superstitious person. So the tarot thing really is just a very minor part in the movie. })
