Congradulations on your new deck!

1. My old friend Renaissance Tarot deck--looked at to accompany book by Brian Williams--started 'talking' to me in my head.
Actually I was buying a U.S. Games deck to ship to someone this morning. And I looked at the U.S. Games display, one card seemed to have very airy, lovely colors. It was the Imperatice/Empress of this deck. I also noticed another pip card with a tiny keyword inscribed in the corner. These all reminded me of the colors in the Du Berry Hours giftbook in my hand.
Anyway I pulled the deck out and it suddenly had better possibilities that I had not noticed before. Eureka--just like meeting an old friend in an unexpected place.
Has or is this happening to you? With one deck or two? I'm saving the Renaissance for weekend or playtime...

2. My Tarot and Dreams book inspired me to take out an older copy of my Robert DeAngeles deck and Comparative Tarot by my bedside...mostly the DiAngeles for any dream-style work.

As you can see, I'm hoping to be a tarot 'player' this although the Lombardy/Neoclassical is a faithful backup. Do you also switch decks from week to week because they 'call' to you?

Mari... how cool that is, reconnecting with your old deck that way! As for switching my decks by the week? No... I switch them by the hour. Well, almost. I have 7 decks which I use regularly for readings either for myself or for others. When I'm reading for someone else, I let them pick the deck that appeals to them the most. Or if they don't have a preference, I'll chose one which I feel fits them or the question they have. Then again, when I do readings for myself... sometimes I just grab whichever one is most to hand... other times I consciously pick one that I feel will best fit my mood or question.

[edited to add:] Oops... I forgot - I now have 8 decks for readings, since I recently acquired the Tarot of the Cat People. Hmmm... i have a couple more at home I could probably be using too...

Hi, Mari. I switch decks regularly, and find that each time we "get together," something new and interesting comes out of the interaction. It's fun to see how one's changing thought processes are reflected in the cards. And I do a lot of comparative readings, using my favorite decks alongside those that I read with less often.

Wow! I just re-connected with my Renaissance deck, too!
I've also recently welcomed these other old friends off the dusty tarot shelf: Kazanlar, PoMO, Morgan-Greer, and Zerner-Farber.
It's been nice to revisit these tried-and-true comrades, like going back to a place of very fond memories. In fact, I'm enjoying each of these decks so much this time around, that I don't forsee putting any of them back in their boxes!
:)
