This is meant to be a fun thread. I'll leave the "enabling" to the experts. :) Hey, we shouldn't do this, should we?
Are YOU running out of decks to buy?
1. Visit the internet sites with deck reviews and images.
2. Go tarot shopping in every town which you visit.
3. Plan trips around tarot shopping.
4. Start shopping on-line.
5. Start shopping on-line, abroad.
6. Start collecting oracle decks.
7. Start collecting historical decks.
8. Buy decks for all the new forum study groups.
9. Buy a new deck so you can start your own study group.
10. Start collecting different language versions, sizes, or other variants of decks you already have.
11. Buy decks on sale or at a deep discount. It's amazing how many decks you will buy that you might not otherwise buy.
12. Buy decks that you think or fear will become out of print.
13. Discover ebay and ABEbooks.
14. Buy and preferably read tarot books and Kaplan's encylopedia. This may give you ideas for decks to buy.
15. Read posts by well-known enablers. :)
16. Buy a deck with a different theme from the ones you already have. You'll then want to buy more decks to fill out that new theme.
17. Go to bookstores when you're down.
18. Go to bookstores when you're up.

19. When buying decks online - calculate the shipping costs of one decks. Calculate the shipping costs for a number of decks. Buy more than one deck and feel as if you are saving money.
I don't really need a thread to convince me to buy more decks.
But it is good to have this list ready for people who are still on the brink of taroholism, this will win them over

20. Buy decks that you may not care for but that will enhance your understanding and appreciation of the tarot and tarot symbolism.

21. Buy decks you don't care for, to see if they grow on you.
22. Keep searching for that perfect deck, even though after many purchases you keep coming back to a comfort deck of yours like the RWS, Thoth or TdM or a clone thereof.
23. Keep searching for that perfect clone of the RWS.

I think these rules can apply to just about any hobby. At least half of them explain why my cross stitch collection is so HUGE! lol! Exchange chart for deck and needlework shop for bookstore, and there you go.
Of course... what is an oracle chart? :-P Sounds like something I need.

26. If your Thoth deck is too large to manage, by the smaller one. Then buy the pocket sized one to take out with you.
27. Buy some MINI-decks so you will always have one in your car, in your purse/briefcase etc...

buy spares to keep in your car or purse or book bag and main decks for the house.
go to tarot garden and keep a check on all the new releases.
get a credit account at amazon.
keep decks personal use and copies of same to use as readings.
stay on the look out for self-published decks.
create your own deck and self-publish.
study the work of individual tarot artists and collect all the tarot work done by each artist.
get extra copies of your favorite decks just in case the one you are using wears out and goes out of print. horrors! })

42. Give decks as gifts to people who are not into tarot at the moment. Tell them they can give it back if they don't like it. Of course you risk them not giving it back...but then you have won another tarot-friend :)

43. Buy mini versions of decks that you already have, so that you can carry them around with you, even though the regular versions are small enough to fit in your bag e.g. who needs a mini version of the Hanson-Roberts? (me!!). Ruby7

44. Buy decks from E-Bay that you don't like that much (not on your desired decks list) simply because the price is so low you cannot pass it by, 'cause hey in a few months who knows maybe you will want this deck and you missed this great opportunity at this ridiculously low price, Ruby7

45. Buy versions of your favorite decks that have titles and keywords in different languages: The Aqurian deck with Spanish titles, the Crowley Thoth with keywords in Urdu (much less distracting)

Buy a deck you don't much like because you see it at a good price and think "I can trade it for something I can't get here" - then decide you kind of do like it after all and you'd better hang on to it.

buy decks you already have just to offer them to your dear ones... as a way to come out of the closet... "look what i found at the bookstore! i didn't even know anything about tarot until last week but don't these cards look great? well that is except for the death and tower and three and ten of swords... i wonder if there could be another pack where they wouldn't look so scary, what you think? shall i watch? yeah sure, they are so cheap after all..."
Been there done that?

Contact every single person who is creating a deck (even as a hobby) and ask to get a copy even if you have to print and cut every card if the deck never gets published.

53. Develop a side addiction to crystals and runes so that every deck you have needs not only a tarot bag to match but a crystal or rune to enhance it. [don't ask how i know this...........]
