wow! what a lovely deck this is! I love the petite size, it is very easy to shuffle. And Mary Hanson-Roberts has done a wonderful job with the artwork. I was researching threads about the Hanson-Roberts and one of the common themes was that it gave straight-forward, no-nonsense readings. This is just what I am looking for! :)
One of the things about this deck I like especially is that each card has a very descriptive picture on it. I know this is going to help me to use my own intuition and rely less on the LWB.

this is my favorite reading deck. it's so good to hear someone else seeing what a lovely job mary hanson roberts did with this deck. it shuffles well, reads well, and is tame enough for any querent. the colors are soft and easy on the eye. she also did the whimsical and the universal waite. both beautiful.
hope that you continue having good results with this wonderful deck!

I'm using this deck for my morning readings right now. I'm actually surprised how much I like. It's very cute, but the meanings come through very well. I've been pulling a lot of reversals this month, so that is really helping to give me a new prespective on this deck.

This is my favourite reading deck. I didn't like the artwork at first glance but as soon as I opened the deck and looked at all the cards I loved it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do, Ruby7:)

I have this deck in the regular size and the new smaller version that came out about 6 months ago and I really like it. I am always partial to small decks (they are just so easy to use) The artwork won't send anyone running for the hills which is an added bonus lol. I also like the fact that it is closer up than Rider Waite, you feel more like a participant in the cards than a spectator. Do you have a favorite card in the deck?
Enjoy your deck :)

Yep, this is a deck that didn't appeal to me at first. But then I went back after reading reviews and took a second look. It is a very expressive deck, I love the colored pencil artwork done by Mary Hanson-Roberts. My favorite cards are "The Moon" and "The Sun" ...the Moon card really captures the mood, with the dogs howling up at the moon, the purples of the sky. And the Sun card, I love the joy and happiness shown by the smiling sun. I also really like how all of the Ace cards are done.

Howdy Oceanpoetry!
Like you, this deck didn't really appeal to me at first. But the more I hear about it and the more I go back to look at it... well, let's say it's moved up a notch or two on my "wish list". As far as I can tell there is no nudity in this deck, which might be very good for those people who are a little more sensative to that type of thing. Give them a choice other than the Victoria Regina (which seems to put some people off because of the lack of color) and the Dragon Tarot. Hmmm....

after a quick look thru the cards to check for nudity, there are 3 cards where there is well covered up nudity. the man and woman on the devil's nudity is covered by their body positions and the card label at the bottom. on the sun, the child's nudity is covered by the horse's mane. The star's nudity is covered by her very long hair.
the real shocker is that the lovers are completely clothed. i think it would be safe to say that most lovers are naked. it's a safe all around deck. you can use it around a child and your grandma! LOL

Trogon, I think this would be a nice addition to your tarot collection :D It would be an excellent deck to you use with anyone. And the cards are colorful, good quality and shuffle easily.
You have the VR! that deck looks soo difficult to read with, the black-white format looks like it would be a real challenge to work with (at least for me!)

Yes, my wife bought this for me for last Christmas! (Isn't she wonderful? :D ) Anyway, as for it being a challenge... well, yes and no... (hows that for waffling?). It did take some getting used to, especially the court cards, but a good, solid understanding of the RWS deck helps a lot. I have been (and continue) studying the VR separately as there are nuances which separate it from the RWS on which it is based. I do get extremely good readings with it though.

i´ve got the hanson.deck too and i also love this deck. for me it´s important, that this deck is very optimistic. there is no card, that makes a bad feeling, and i think that the people shall take their lives so too. nearly every bad experience has also a good side. you must only find it.
love to all

I am really pleased with this deck! It is very easy to work - and I get very frank and honest readings. There are some dark cards, death and 9 of swords for example IMO are darker than URW...the HR death card really brings to mind all of the challenges we face when we go through endings of any kind.

I think the Hanson Roberts was the second or third deck I bought and I liked it from straight off. Its a deck you would be able to use anywhere and with anyone, the smallness makes it convenient to carry and to do spreads with.
But I do think its one of those decks you'll either hate or love, its always been regarded as a 'cute' deck because of the artwork and colouring but I always found it to pack quite a punch, like an iron fist in a velvet glove lol - I use this as one of my comfort decks because I do like the artwork :)
