Need to buy a deck for someone

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and he has hinted that he wants a tarot deck for his birthday. He has hinted also indirectly that he wants this H.P. Lovecraft deck-- --I'm wondering, should i go ahead and buy him this? I had hoped to find one myself that I thought he would like. I am certain he would prefer to have a dark deck, both in art and symbolism, and preferrably something with somewhat ornate art. Any suggestions? Or should I just stick with the deck he wants?

Hi VerseJunkie, In these cases hint=Iwantthatone! lol This of course need not stop you getting him another deck as well, either now or some time in the future. Or something different altogether, how about a set of runes for example? Perhaps you could give the 'next' deck (enabler? who me?!) on the anniversary of your getting together or some such special occasion? Cheers, Heidi Aussie

Definitely go for the one he has asked for :) Even if two decks have very similar style, one can call to you and one can leave you cold. So if he knows what he likes, I'd say go for it. Like Heidi said, you can give him another deck or divination system another time :)

If he's given you hints then maybe you should get him that one, he might be disappointed if he thinks you didn't take his hints and decided to get him the deck you wanted him to have instead, you can always gift him with the style of deck that you think would suit him later :) - Then he'll probably get the collecting bug and we all know where that rocky little path ends up :D

If he likes the Lovecraft one, have him look at the Terrestrial Tarot too. But to be on the safe side, have him give you the name of the deck he really wants (after making him look through the sample cards on the Aeclectic site of course). That way he gets exactly what he thinks he wants.
