Anyone have more detail about this deck? I've seen the little tiny sample pic on Tarot Garden's upcoming releases page. It looks like I would enjoy the rich coloring so I'm somewhat intrigued. But does anyone know more? Does it have a theme? Is it Thoth/RWS/something else based? Anyone know where I can see some sample pics? Has the artist done other decks?

It's not released yet, is it? I couldn't find anything online so far, but Wal-Mart is listed as one of the places carrying it--for $11.75. the other prices are $18 regular price, and $12 on Amazon, but no pictures available at any of the places, just a listing.

Thanks so much for the link, Hedera. I'm so glad I got to see at least a little of what this deck is about.
My summary:
Weird but oddly compelling. There are lots of questions these cards raise. Like why are there 3 women kneeling/crawling in front of the Hierophant?
I think this is one where I'd like to handle the cards before I'd buy.

I think at least one of the 3 figures is male (the one on the right).

Some more information from Joan Bunning's site:
http://www.learntarot.com/nydesc.htm
He based it on the TarotClassic. by Stuart Kaplan and somewhat on the Claude Burdel designs. However, Strength and Justice are Rider-Waite style. The colors are modern and I was surprised that the gradient color tones on the cover of a modern book--A Magical Course in Tarot--with yellow, amber, plum blue and grape magenta---also appear in these tarot cards, with a gold border and modern typeface with big letters. Actually, I liked the paintings.
Online I wasn't a fan of the pictures or meanings.

But I had a 'halt' in liking modern tarot art for awhile. Maybe because I was considering Dali and Seurat calendars, really looking for something different. I realized that I just needed to lighten up.
This deck has cards in a rich plum blue, a nice gold and yellow thin border and paintings that would appeal to fantasy art fans. Oddly, a cross between the Dante and their Golden Tarot of the Tsars. Rich, muted, dark and clear colors.
Rider-Waite numbering, figures and full number of motifs in minors, excellent booklet...the meanings were rewritten so the odd translation that you get when you click on the picture is much clearer in the booklet...if you were to read for others, only the tarot majors are online. But they give a good feel if you like this art.
