Hi!
I hope everybody is doing well today!
This is just for the sake of curiosity: if you had to go to an island in the middle of nowhere, and you could take only one Tarot deck with you, which one would you choose?
Or better, which deck do you usually take with you on trips? And why?
All right, enough of questions. It's really silly, i know, but i am a very curious person :)
Thanks, ladies and gentlemen, for your attention!

I don't think I could choose. But if I HAD to.... then I would take my Thoth tarot.
But then, whenever I am gone for long periods of time, I usually take my Hanson-Roberts. Hmnnn.... tarot confusion!
:)

Thoth, no doubt. i don't even need to think about it.
i bought the pocket-sized one to keep in my glovebox, so i would always have it handy!

I'd pick the Universal Tarot by de Angelis. Once I receive my Tarot of Prague deck, it'll be that one. :)

I'm going to put a twist on this:
If I could only take the deck and a book or two, what would it be?
Well, let's pretend I'm wanting to just learn to read with one deck. At the moment, I'm trying to read with the Di Gumppenberg 1830-1840 and the book's deck (it's in Italian, so I'm learning slowly).
But if I get to take the Tarot:Reading the Future with it's mini punchouts or just the Di Gumppenberg and this, I'd spend most of my leisure just figuring out the layout pairings.
Just for right now. Next week might be different.

Hello Mari!
I agree with you. My Tarot Deck changes weekly, thats why i could never really answer this question. Today i'd take me Mythic Tarot. Tomorrow...another day, another deck.
Or not.
Confusing, huh?
Thank you all for sharing your opinion!

(1) I'd bring along a Gilligan's Island Tarot, the perfect stranded-on-a-desert-isle theme deck. Hurry up, someone, and publish it. :)
Amazon.com has an item listed called "Gilligan's Island Revisited [tarot]" at:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/8888800000/medfordtrails-20/102-0247980-5984970
but I'm not sure if that's a tarot deck.
(2) Or I'd bring along the Geographic Tarot, for the maps.
(3) Or, seriously, I'd bring along the 1971 Rider-Waite deck. Love live the 1971 Rider-Waite !

Hmm, which deck, ah, choices choices.
For pure reading, well, the Old Path. One can always more find symbolism in the cards too.
There again, the Rohrig are beautiful, and the Manara might remind me of what I am missing?
Hmm, on reflection, the Old Path I reckon.

So many great decks but I would probably take the Universal Waite.
On the other hand ... I think that I might take 78 plain cards and a pack of pencils!!!

Any one.
It wouldn't matter.
And if I got stranded, who would I be reading for?

Even though I don't really know it well, I think I would take the Thoth. Learning it would give me a lot to do.
But, maybe I would want something a little more friendly. Then it would be the Robin Wood.

Robin Wood, don't know why... but I always seem to go to that one for no particular reason. Even when I look for new ones, I see Robin Wood, and I always compare, lol

I would take the Blank Tarot published by US Games, and a good pack of artist pencils, and pens. Hey I got it, The Stranded tarot, or The Shipwrecked tarot, or better yet, The Only Survivor of a Plane Crash Tarot.

any natives that you read for may say, "Landlubber's cards are seasick"...truly, I very much like the cards that are not green. My opinion, only...
I saw on Ebay recently a listing for 'rare' or 'scarce' tarot--Thoth green tint, very rare or oop, something like that. Ouch.
