Radiant Rider Waite?

I know US Games said the radiant rider waite was to be out in July but does anyone happen to know when in July? I've been waiting on this now for months and can't wait to purchase this deck. Thanks

Trogon  11 Jul 2003
Hi Angelwhispers,

If you go to the U.S. Games web site at ; http://www.usgamesinc.com/ there is a button for contacting them (labeled "contact" ;) ). There you will find several e-mail addresses for contacting their customer service people, I would think someone there should be able to answer your question.

angelwhispers  11 Jul 2003
Thanks for your suggestion Trogon. I don't why I didn't think of that myself. I emailed them today so we'll see what they have to say.

This is what Tarot Garden has to say about it:

U.S. Games has confirmed that both the overdue New Century Tarot and the forthcoming Radiant Rider-Waite Tarot are in production, and will be available at the end of July.

So you'll have to wait a few more weeks... ;)

I'm curious about this deck myself.

Thanks tarotlady, I guess a couple more weeks won't kill me. (as I wipe the sweat from my brow...:D )

I am looking forward to this deck, too! I wish I could find screen captures of the cards, but from Tarot Garden site, looks like it is going to be very vibrant! I can't wait! :)

BoomVoom  14 Jul 2003

oceanpoetry  14 Jul 2003
the only cards I have seen are the ones on the Tarot Garden site (link posted above)

angelwhispers  14 Jul 2003
I still have yet to hear from US Games about an exact release date on this deck. Oh well, patience patience.....I only found out about this deck because it came as an insert in the tarot catalog US Games had sent to me. It just looks like the colors on the cards are more vibrant, they only show 2 cards (the wheel and sun) in the catalog.
I can't seem to find the deck on tarotgarden. I saw the notice on the main page about its release but couldn't find any order info on the deck. I tried the search but it says 0 found. I must be looking in the wrong place.

I am very excited about this one. It's like buying a new remix of your favourite record (sorry to cheapen the experience, guys!).

Like the rest of you, I am intregued and want to see more examples in more detail. I am also very interested in The New Vision Tarot, taking the Rider Waite images and looking at them from behind. This does look interesting and I am surprised that there hasn't been many threads about it (or has there, and I have just missed them).

Does anybody else have any ideas or are excited abaout the latter?

Best wishes to you all

The link already posted has a few cards from The New Vision as well - the monkey sitting behind the Magician!!! I very much liked seeing the welcoming party for the Chariot.

Oh, me, me! Actually, the concept of a "different perspective" -- literally -- on the RWS cards is something that had been in my own head for a loooong time. It's one of those decks I would have loved to create and publish myself if I'd had the ability and the financial wherewithal. So I've been pretty excited about the New Vision deck ever since I first learned about it.

I actually have a copy of the New Vision deck now (that's why it's the only pending release with the usual half-dozen scans already in the Tarot Garden database), thanks to the kindness of Mario from LS, who gave me an advance copy of the North American release edition in Denver a few weeks ago. If everything proceeds according to the timetables given to me by Llewellyn and Lo Scarabeo, I quite expect that we'll be receiving our shipment this week, and sending the decks on their way to the anxious and loving hands of the preorderers shortly thereafter.

In the meantime, if anyone wants to see scans of a particular card from the New Vision, let me know, and I'll try to make a little time to post a few requests.

Unfortunately, I don't have any advance materials from USG on the Radiant RWS, other than what's already posted on the Tarot Garden site.

I have the URW and from what I can see of the Radiant RW, the colors are *much* brighter...URW is colored pencil in mainly soft, pastel colors. The Radiant looks bold and bright! I'm looking forward to adding this one to my collection, I am a fan of RW-decks.

Jeanette

I can't wait to see this deck (New Vision). As I don't know what lurks within it yet, I am not sure whether it would be a good deck to read with; but I can imagine having a problem with a card in a spread, where both I and the querant are stumped: I could then produce the New Vision card to ponder on and see if something else can be added to the interpretation already given. I like that idea of working with them side by side.

I will go through my deck and see which I would most like to understand a bit better and will get back to you about posting on the site. I wanna see them all!!! I wanna see them all!!!

Best wishes to you all

i'm really looking forward to getting this deck, also. in the end, i learned on rws and it's hard to give up a good thing. i haven't bought deck in 3 months. i know, somebody take my temperature!

angelwhispers  14 Jul 2003
after reading the posts here about the new vision deck I went to Tarot Garden to check it out and have to say that I'm very intrigued with this deck and will probably have to add it along with the Radiant Rider Waite, I really like the idea of seeing things from the other perspective......

if I reach back just a little farther I might be able to scrape up some change from underneath the couch....;)

Phoenix  14 Jul 2003
Truth, I haven't bought a deck in the past 6, and believe me, it took a lot of self control. But, once the RRW comes out, I am sending my money to Jeanette!!!

Little Baron  15 Jul 2003
I am with you on that one Pheonix! Looking forward to seeing this one in all its glory!

Best wishes

Actually, Jeanette, while pondering on it tonight, I would be most appreciative if you could post the New Vision '9 of Swords'!

Thanks and best wishes

Thanks Jeanette

I am not sure what I was expecting from that one. As much as I love the idea of this deck, that card kind of limits my thoughts of the card, rather than expands them. I think that it is down to the fact that we know she is having troubled sleep/nightmares/worries/anxieties. We know that there is possibly something dark within those nightmares; seeing what it is that has a grip on her somehow limits the impact of the card. What we cannot see is a little scarier and provoking of anxiety.

In the same way, if Pamela Coleman Smith were still alive, she could explain the 'doggy monster' in the 10 of Pentacles (see the thread about his cloak). She could tell us about the skull within the 7 of cups (see thread discussing fame after death). She could explain why there are double lines on some horizons, who the 'hooded guy' in the 6 of cups is and let us in on secret symbols of the 78 cards we may never even find in our lifetime. The fact that she isn't here to explain means that we discuss on this forum, use our intuition and develop it. Thats why we all read the cards so uniquely.

I am very much looking forward to this deck, just out of interest. I think that from what I have seen though, some of the interpretations in this new view are quite obvious ones.

I would have loved it if the reverse of the 9 of Swords showed a messy kitchen with stacks and stacks of washing up or a pile of ironing. I know that her 'hands over face' posture is one that I mimic when I wake up in the morning and see a kitchen full of 'the night before' - dirty plates, empty wine bottles etc etc.

Best wishes

Gotta go - got a stack of ironing to do before I go to bed!

Thanks again Jeanette.

Here's the response I got today about my inquiry to the release of Radiant Rider Waite deck

Dear ******:
Thanks for your inquiry. The Radiant Rider Waite has been delayed in production. We are due to have it sometime soon- hopefullly by late August.
Try back next month-hopefully we will have a firm date
US Games Customer Services

I'm disappointed in the push back but hopefully it will all be worth it.
