Motherpeace deck

I finally picked up the Motherpeace tarot in Woodstock, while
I was upstate. I love it.

I asked the deck to show me what I needed to know, and it did.

I didn't really do a reading I just observed the cards that caught my attention or that fell out of the deck while shuffling. It was very accurate.

I really needed a feminine deck, living with so much male energy.

It really did it for me !!!!!

Congratulations, Shadow Wolfe

Motherpeace was my first deck, and I still love it, although I seem to use it less these days.

I particularly like the world view the authors portray in the art work. Would that we could make their world more of a reality.

A couple of years ago I broke an ankle and had to spend several weeks in a convalescent center. At the time I was just learning tarot, so I offered a reading to everyone who came into my room. Some were intrigued, some were scornful (especially the doctors), some loved it and kept coming back for more. And since many of the figures are unclothed, some were a little -- irritated is the kindest way to say it.

It was a Catholic institution, so I was a little hesitant about asking my husband to bring the deck in for me. However, no one objected on the religious score...just some of the au natural (probably isn't spelled right) ladies.

Shadow Wolf - we've had some threads about reading with circular decks. Hope you have fun with the Motherpeace.

if you are interested in feminine/feminist style decks you should also check out the goddess, wise woman, and daughters of the moon.

there are several workbooks and books out on using the motherpeace that you can get from amazon.

What a cool place to get your deck--of all places, Woodstock!
It seems especially appropriate to have gotten such an earthy, free-spirited deck from there.
You brought out the sentimental, romantic hippy-chick in me with that connection, Shadow Wolfe... ;)
Enjoy your Motherpeace Deck!
:)

Thanks for the input everyone.

Once I set my heart on a particular deck, I never purchase it right away. I'll go the store and pick it up and look at it, and read the back, and put it back on the shelf. Then I go home and let it settle into my heart. I usually wait another week or two before I buy it.

I LOVE the Motherpeace deck !!!!!

It made me feel so positive about what I was feeling, it gave me more confidence in myself and in my emerging energy and personal power. The "readings" I got really helped me zero in on my strengths and offered gentle advice on how to deal with
my weaknesses. It all seemed so clear to me, I wondered how I missed it before.

I guess I just needed a feminine perspective !!!

The Motherpeace is among the many decks I'd like to purchase, but after reading all these comments, I'm gonna move it the top of the list... Just hope i can find it on the store next to me :-)

I like the Motherpeace too, but I don't use it as an everyday reading deck. The primitive nature of the artwork is a bit shy on the symbolism, which sometimes makes it problematic when you read it intuitively.

DivinerGuy,

It's very interesting how the same deck makes different connections with everyone.

I love the primative artwork, only I would call primal. It really helps me see things as they really are, it simplifies the situations
in my readings and allows me to focus on what wouldn't necessarily be considered traditional solutions. It helps me to get down to the bare bones of the matter.

I've found the Motherpeace deck to be highly spiritual in it's answers to my inquiries. I love this deck, and sometimes it tells me the things I need most to work on, which is hard to deal with sometimes. But it does tell you, and it's up to you to do what is right. Listen because they will tell you the truth, I love this deck!

(clapping with glee!!!)

I just won a Motherpeace deck off of ebay...for $5.50!!!
I've wanted it for so long...I have the book, which I paid $4 for at a used-book store. I knew someday I would be able to get the deck, and not pay $30, and I did!!

I'm sooo happy :) Now my girlfriend and I will have the same book/deck sets to study with.

How do you 'connect' with this deck? Is this the small sized one or the big one ?

I just ordered the small one, since I read some negative review of the bigger one.

How do you like this deck so far?

I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, as five decks arrived last week, and the Gilded and Inner Child and Russian Gypsy have captivated me and are taking up all my spare time!

I love the book by Vicki Noble. I refer to it a lot...so I'm sure I'll like the deck as much.

The small Motherpeace was my second deck (had previously bought Moon Garden). It's small size drove me crazy because it was too hard to shuffle (riffle). I finally got the larger one and find it perfect. One of the best things about the deck is that it tells you true things without being harsh about it.

At the time I didn't much like Moon Garden, but it's become one of my favorite resources.

What did you then do with your small version, Red Emma?

Again, I have the large one. I don't think I would like the small one so much, this one is easy enough for me to shuffle (I have long fingers).

I really love this deck, although when I bought it it was just to have it, the price was $5 so I couldn't resist.
I like to use this one before I go to sleep b/c I find the pictures very gentle and soothing and familiar.

I've done a 3-card reading which was very insightful, and have used it for daily cards also for this week. I highly recommend the book "A Way to the Goddess..." that goes along with it. I found that at a used bookstore for $4!!

My plan is to take a couple of the individual cards which represent the 'soul card' and 'year card' for one of my friends, frame them and present them to her for her birthday.

Come to think of it, I should make a pair of pictures. She's going through a difficult divorce and she needs to remember that under all the negative, unbelievably destructive stuff he's laid on her, she's really the Queen of Swords. Maybe with those two pictures on her wall, it will help her make her way through this very thick brier patch. (Briar patch?)

What a lovely idea! That's so nice. :)

I was hoping you might want to trade them, but that sounds like a much more noble (& caring!) use for them. *chuckle*

.. & I'm pretty sure it's 'briar'. :)
