To avoid cluttering up the historical thread, I will ask my question here! ;)
In the usually available Oswald Wirth deck, is the gold background of the majors of the gold-leaf type, favoured by Lo Scarabeo (e.g. Nefertari etc.) or more the "cigarette-pack" gold employed by U.S. Games in (e.g. Russian Tarot of St.P) Odd question, I know, but...

The silk-screened gold in Oswald Wirth by U.S. Games seems to be a flat and has a dull sheen similar other decks that seem to be issued in the 1980's, such as the Golden Rider.
It reminds me of the dull luster of the gold ink on the surface of the Medieval Scalpini cards, you could scratch it off.
The box cover for the Russian Tarot of St. Petersberg actually seems to be etched, more similar to Lo Scarabeo's gold stamping. For some reason the Lo Scarabeo's stamping and filigree seems more finely done.

Gosh, I don't know.....
Would it help if I said that the gold is more of a bronze-gold, than a yellow-gold?

Thanks indeed Mari. That does help. :)
Diana, I'm just a sucker for all that cheap flash! And to think I was going to complain about that ghastly, light (bathroom) blue of the Jodo-Camoin preventing me from liking it! Seriously though, I am considering looking for a slightly "toned down" version - Somewhat easier on the eye maybe?
