i'm very curious about this deck. from pix i've seen of it, i feel drawn to it but i'm no longer in a deck collecting frenzy like i was a year ago. i'm only seeking decks that really attract me. has anyone else bought this deck? if so what are your feelings/reactions to it?

truthsayer  16 Sep 2003
i can't believe no one has this deck! i give! i'm breaking down and getting a copy. it's the only way my insatiable curiosity will be relieved. it's a self-pub if that increases the interest. tarot garden has it now for $40(i believe).

let us know how you like it! it does have an impressive list of artists that created cards. i liked the images i've seen of it. they all seem to go together amazingly well.

i tried to win a deck by writing an essay on an 'intuitive tarot' reader's website months ago, but the website never did award the prize. the contest seems to have just disappeared! hmmmm.....

Actually I have this deck. I like it, especially the companion book which offers movies that fit the theme of the card.

The art is a bit uneven - there are some cards I love and some I just don't get (the 3 of Cups immediately springs to mind). But overall worth adding to the collection.

I have this one also. I agree with brennamor -- some cards I like and others I don't get. Apparently many of the artists are not that familiar with tarot, so many cards don't jive with the archetypes or symbolism. Sarah Ovenall (Victoria Regina) and Alexandra Genetti (Wheel of Change) are also among the artists, though.

I also have the Four Seasons Playing Cards, done in the same style my several of the same artists. I do playing card divination with that deck.

I have this deck, too. Actually, I bought the deck because I was familiar with a lot of the artists from the art stamp/collage/altered book world that I am also involved with. I hadn't used tarot cards in years, and the deck inspired me to start using them again. Now, 50 decks later, I still enjoy the Inner Vision deck. I have the playing cards, too.

Arnell Ando also has some very cool art in the deck. I agree that some of the art appeals to me more than other cards, but that's true with any deck. The deck comes in a nice bag, and the book is pretty good. I certainly recommend it.

i just got my deck today. so far i like what i see artwise. the packaging is good. i like the accompanying bag and book. the art looks kind of busy to be a good reading deck but i'm willing to give it a try. if nothing else, excellent one for the collection.

i'll post any further observations as i have them.

Yes please, do keep us updated!

I've teetered on the verge of getting this one many times...

i read some of the book and i'm delighted. i've read so much on tarot over the years that it's hard for me to find much that interests or entertains me. however, this book has such unique views on the cards. one feature i particularly enjoy is the relate each card(majors and minors) to movies. for example:

seven of cups:
the movie "Four Weddings and a Funeral" deals with choices the characters must make regarding relationships. the "Joy Luck Club" is another movie that deals with many life-altering choices several women make.

i haven't seen quite a few of the movies mentioned. my plan is to read up on each card then rent the movies that the book mentions. then i'll journal how this movie is like that particular card. if i follow thru with this, it would be an interesting new thread.

the card backs are among the most interesting, elaborate, and visually arresting i have seen. nomonet hid eyes in the collage. it's entertaining to find them. i think there are 7 but there could be more. some of you may find the backs too visually stimulating but i enjoy them.

i must admit i was a tad disappointed with my new illuminated deck even tho it was made to order. the AIV totally makes up for it. i am tee-totally delighted with the artists' inner vision. y'all positively must get a copy.

I'm glad that you like the deck. I think it would be fun to have a thread comparing movies to their interpretation in the deck. Or maybe even a different kind of study group...

I've met Stef (NoMonet) a few times, and next time I see her I will let her know that we are interested and like the deck.

I figured I would resurrect this thread since I finally found this deck today in my travels.

First impressions - I love it! I haven't had time yet to really look at it but I do love most of the artwork at first glance. Also, the lack of borders on the cards is a real plus for me. I also am impressed by the bag.

I can't wait to look through the book (I am a big-time movie buff).

By the way, did anything ever develop on a thread for card vs. movie comparison? I would be interested in participating.
