I broke down and bought it.
At first I thought it was cutesy. Then I saw some images and it really spoke to me. I mean, I found I felt I could read really well with this deck.
So I went to Joe Rosales's site and ordered one today.
I think I'll be able to use it to read for kids when I read at pumpkinfest in October. However, I think it's gonna stand alone as a deck in itself, kids or no kids.
And it seems to be really funny and imaginative. I actually only waited this long cause I wanted to be sure it was not an impulse buy. But these cutesy characters in tarot poses have me rolling!
They make me think of kids playing dress-up.
Anyone have it already and want to share impressions?

Hi, VioletLotus! I received the deck a couple of days ago from Tarot Garden. I just love the imagery. The cards are printed on unlaminated thickish paper, not even what I would call card stock, which I find disappointing -- on the other hand, as Jeannette (at Tarot Garden) pointed out, the unlaminated paper will work well for those who choose to hand-color the cards. It's such a cute and readable deck that I'm glad to have it, regardless!

I hope this doesn't double post, one of my cats just walked across the keyboard & reloaded the page (dammit).
I talked to Mr. Rosales earlier this year about his Hello deck, he said it was a low budget thing, he just went down to the local printer & had the decks photocopied onto card stock there. If you're using watercolors to color them in I'd caution you to check the ink first, it might smear if it gets wet (waterproof ink like they use on business cards is different). Color pencil should be ok though.
You'll have to be careful with shuffling, but it shouldn't be too much a problem. I know other artist decks in b/w who went the same route. Finding a printer who has machines that can handle more than 90lb weight paper is hard, much less the ability to do a spray varnish. That's almost impossible locally in many areas, and lamination costs an additional $12 a deck (at least here in the Midwest). Options are slimmer for those who self publish.
But it shouldn't interfer with having fun with your deck. LOL

Hello,
I lOVE this deck!!! I think it is truly one of the cutest I've seen and want to color it myself. However since I am afraid of "ruining" it, I have decided to copy them onto plain paper, color them with pencils and then perhaps laminate them myself (I have a small hand laminator I bought on ebay) That way I can play all I want with them without fear of ruining them as the paper they are on is hard to shuffle.
