Hello!
I'm looking for a new deck or two for my girlfriend and thought this was a good place to get some advice. I've bought her a few decks in the past but i don't really know much about tarot so could use some help. She uses the tarot but is also a collector so i'd be particularly interested in any rare decks or good self published decks. She already has quite a few so i'm really finding it hard to come up with anything to get her! Here's a list of what she already has:
ADRIAN TAROT
ANIMAL-WISE TAROT
ARTHURIAN TAROT
CELTIC DRAGON TAROT
CELTIC WISDOM TAROT
CROW'S MAGICK TAROT
DAVID'S TAROT
DRAGON TAROT
FAERIES ORACLE
FANTASY SHOWCASE TAROT
FEY TAROT
GENDRON TAROT
GIGER'S TAROT
GODDESS TAROT
GOLDEN TAROT OF THE TSAR
HAINDL TAROT

IL TAROCCO MITOLOGICO
INNER CHILD CARDS
LA TORRE
LE TAROT D'AMBRE
LEGEND:THE ARTHURIAN TAROT
LONDA TAROT
MANDALA ASTROLOGICAL TAROT
MINCHIATE FIORENTINE
MIRACLE TAROT
OSHO ZEN TAROT
SACRED CIRCLE TAROT
SECRET TAROT
SHAPESHIFTER TAROT
SONGS FOR THE JOURNEY HOME
STONE TAROT
TAROCCHI DELLA FOLLIA
TAROCCHI dell'IMAGINARO
TAROCCHI ROMANTICI
TAROCCO STORICO DEL PALIO DI PISTOIA
TAROT FOR CATS
TAROT OF ANDREA PICINI
TAROT OF THE OLD PATH
TAROT UNIVERSAL DALI

Oh, and i just ordered "The Tarot of Prague" for her.
Any help would really be appreciated.

The Illuminated Tarot by carol Herzer is a really nice recolouring of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck. Each deck is handmade and comes in a handmade bag. You can also choose the design for the back of the cards. I don't think that the price is too high either.
Available from Carols' site here: www.soul-guidance.com
I noticed that she hasn't got The World Spirit deck and although it's not rare or self published it's a lovely and very readable deck.
You've made a very good choice with Tarot of Prague (IMO), I'm sure she'll love that one.
Love and light

I bought a special deck off Alida a couple of months ago called the 'Tarocco Soprafino' F Gumppenberg by Il Meneghello. Its a small but not minature limited edition deck of only 2000 copies, its nicely priced and comes looking very hand-made. The Classical tarot by Lo Scarabeo is a copy of this deck. It's not, in my opinion, a deck to be used everyday I don't think it would stand up to it but its a nice addition to a collection. :)
Also the Morgan Greer is a nice but modern deck with a very old feel to it. :)

If she likes the Londa, she might like the Vampire Tarot or the Fantastical Tarot. They're both by Natalie Herz (spelling?) and I think they're both in print, but they're very nice decks if she likes that style of artwork.
If she's into vampires and 'horror' stories, the Gothic Tarot by Joseph Vargo is the way to go - the cards are beautiful. Tarotgarden has several good images of them; I'd scan mine in but I don't know how!
Or how about the Victoria Regina if she likes historical decks?
Or the Nefertari if she likes Egyptian styles?
None of these are particularly difficult to find, but in my opinion at least, they're very beautiful.
I love her collection - your girlfriend definitely has taste!

She has the halloween so she apperently apriciate some playfullness in tarot. So you might get her the phantasmagoric theater tarot. Its a weird looking deck but it is full with hidden depths.

She seems to have quite a few really colourful decks; Maybe the Cosmic Tribe is a good addition?
It's a very beautiful and deep deck!
All the cards can be seen here:

Judging by the rest of her list I would recommend
The Medicine Cards
And HudsonGray's Ferret Tarot
(which I have to order myself one of these days!)
Peace,

If you get her the medicine cards, get her the sacred path cards as well, and perhaps the medicine workbook (I hear good things about it.) All can be used together, and would make a nice package.
Based on her interests, a Greenwood Tarot, if you can find one.

Hi There
If you want to give her a self published deck there are alot of super ones out there and I bet that you could get them dedicated to her from the artist as well :)
I handmake two different decks
Samantha's Tarot
Dolphin Daze deck
Pictures can be seen at www.dolphin-daze.com
Other great self published decks that you won't see in the stores are
Greg Hoose Fae
Illuminated tarot
Guardians of wisdom
Hummm will have to see what others I can think of or you can do a search for self published decks and probably come up with some relevant threads :)
Good Luck!

OOPS sorry, pressed the wrong key. As I was saying I was also trying to decide on a new deck or two for a special occassion, and thought I finally decided on a couple......and the I came across the Gilded Tarot, which looks like the most beautiful art I've ever seen on a Tarot deck. So you may want to check that out as well. Each card seems like a painting. The only thing that concerns me though, is the quality (i.e. card stock, printing etc) when something is hand made. At least there's a physical reference when you buy something from a store. Does anyone else know more about this deck.

Thanks for all your suggestions! You've given me a lot of decks to check out! I've had a look at a lot of the ones that have been mentioned and theres some really nice looking decks there. I'm not sure which i'll get yet but i'll be struggling to decide rather than struggling to find any!
Thanks again for all your help!

I am sure she will like anything you give her, it is the thought that counts.

what about the artists inner vision or the templar? both are nice self-published decks.
i thought the merlin deck was still in print. it was just reprinted around a year ago b/c i got it then. i recently heard it was going to be reprinted again soon. it's a very difficult to read deck though.

There have been lots of good suggestions so far; I second the vote for the Fantastical. I just got it in the mail this weekend, and it's *very cool*!! It has a dark feel, and I liked it much better than the Londa deck. I thought the artwork was a lot more involved than that in the Londa deck, in which many cards looked the same.
Otherwise, I'd suggest finding a deck that has relevance to one of your gf's current interests. I find myself drawn to decks that are an extension of me, so to speak. To me, that's one big part of tarot anyway. I wouldn't want a deck that I couldn't resonate with, even just to add to the collection. Not everyone feels this way though.

I did not notice any Marseille decks in that list. There are quite a number of Marseille decks available, and it partly depends on what you are willing to spend.
In the thread What are the jewels of your collection?, I mentioned the Marseille-type Major Arcana only Tarot de la Felicité. Definitely worth it - and the online images just do not do it justice.
Contact Tarot Garden to see if any are in stock and their current price. Note that it is a limited edition deck.
