that's interesting. i know i've seen the ravenswood deck for sale somewhere at a much lower price somewhere. it's not attractive enough to me to warrant spending that kind of money. i've been tossing about the idea of getting the tarot of the crone and the amber decks(both over $100 but those are special decks of exceptional beauty.

That deck simply does not appeal to me at all, so I wouldn't pay that much money for it. However, I suppose if someone is a scarily dedicated collector, they could well be prepared to pay for a rare deck.

P.S. The Amber costs over $100? D'oh, I so want that deck. Hmmmm, well, the conversion into pounds is quite good right now, so it's about £60. Maybe if I don't eat or have heating for a week or two... lol.

I got my Ravenwood at a much lower prize although it is a deck which is not so wide-spread here in Germany.
I can only recommend to check the current prizes/availability of decks before bidding at ebay. There are quite a lot ppl who practice rip-off on the net.
BTW I got my Amber tarot in a trade.

I bought the Ravenswood Eastern Tarot off Amazon for just under £7, a couple of months ago. I wouldn't have paid as much as that auction is going for though!

I'm glad my taroholism only leads to some more portions of spaghetti with pesto when I was doing too many trades LOL (I found out that this is quite cheap food when you spent too many bucks on trading). Who needs food when the soul gets soul food?

I guess for some, buying an OOP deck is like buying fine artwork, you don't mind spending the money on it.
But I agree, the artwork of this deck doesn't appear too *fine*. ;)

The rareness of it makes it valuable. It's that same old principle of wanting what we can't have (or can have only with great difficulty).

This is an extremely rare deck and only 500 exist. I have the regular Ravenswood and it was reasonable in cost, but there are many thousands of copies. This one is signed and numbered, and since there are more than 500 serious collectors out there ( or in here!), the law of supply and demand rules.
