deck recomendations

I know this has probably been done before but. I was wondering what the experienced/professional/Aeclectic Moderators would recommend. Not necessarily one deck but type of deck....

I have gone from RW clone to very difficult deck for study, decks with loads of symbols, themed decks, beautiful decks, ugly decks, budism decks and now I may go full circle - back to traditional!! Um.... Does this happen to other people?

I'm thinking of World Spirit, Tarot of the Spirit, Tarot de Paris and Tarot of the Prague. What do you think?

Moderating has to do more with our involvement with the Forum in semi-administrative and care capacity than any formal Tarot background. So I make my recommendations as co-community member, albeit with a fair degree of experience.

As may be obvious from some of my other posts, I would recommend a Marseille style deck for all serious Tarot enthusiasts - whether beginners or advanced, and whether they be used for reading, for 'path'-working, meditation, iconographic research, or the development of the senses and the development of the imaginative, inspirational and intuitive faculties.

Going 'full circle' I do not think ever really happens - though a developing spiral, when viewed from a particular perspective, may be seen as a circle. I would therefore describe what you have experienced as precisely this spiralling towards a more classical deck.

For this, a Marseille is hard, or impossible in my opinion, to beat.

Other differing views will of course be forthcoming :)

Well I'm not a moderator or an expert in anything much but I can say that I've experienced the same sort of thing as you have.

I have 3 or the decks you mentioned so I'll tell you what I think of them:

Tarot of the Spirit - A Thoth clone with a more feminine slant. Beautiful abstract style artwork..I prefer the minors to the majors. The cards have keywords and I just can't get on with keywords so I don't use this deck much. There is a book which goes with this deck which is excellent.

Tarot of Prague - This is a lovely deck. Very well done and very easy to read. The cards have a lovely matte finish. It's based on the Rider-Waite -Smith but there are enough differences to make it really interesting. A very intuitive deck IMO.

World Spirit - One of my favorite decks, beautiful artwork and easy to read. This is one of my comfort decks, a deck I come back to.

Love and light
