I wanted this deck for a long time and finally everything came together to have it, even through I went through the out of print dealers.
It is really beautiful and I am getting to know it slowly, which is fine with me. I draw different cards from this deck and another pictorial deck for fun. Since they are both painted decks, I like getting the mix of ideas.
I want to use it for self-expression and thankfully, they both worked for my budget. The Dreampower has it's own themes and ideas, but it's not locked into a storyline, which I like.
I had thought that for creative and fresh tarot spreads that the Gill or Servants of Light (which is impossible for me to locate) might work similarly for me...but the Dreampower and a bargain-priced Fantasy Showcase together is filling an imaginative void for me...so I was curious if you use this deck at all with another or you're keeping it for another time...

Hello Mari!
I have been wanting the Dreampower deck for a loooooong time, but the only one I have found is used for $75 at amazon.com, which is a little pricey for me. I was wondering when/where you got yours, was it very expensive, and are you satisfied that you got your money's worth from it???
Lots of questions, I know! I also noticed that you recently got the Fantasy Showcase...I just ordered it too! I can't wait to get it...can you tell me, how do you like it so far? Since there are so many different artists/styles, did you find that you like most or all of them, are there any "uglies"? LOL!!! Of course, I realize that your ugly might be my silver swan! :P
Thanks....anxious to hear your feedback!

Normally I would not have bought it.
However it had been on my mental wishlist for awhile and I didn't buy it at $35 or $40.00 and then it vanished for months, even years...
But it's been a rather strange January and first part of February. The money that paid for it was part of a legacy, so I went with a few odd and different decks; and I was able to make a few good trades and was a few dollars ahead in my monthly budget.
If you do find it for less, booksellers on abebooks.com sometimes will put a deck on hold for ten days to wait on a check or payment, after you send an inquiry on a title that you are interested in...Abebooks.com is a regular monthly search for me.
You can do what I did for many months, which is use the free reading layout first
electronically, then find a favored deck and see if it works for you when you want to have clarification on a dream theme.
In terms of being able to use the deck now and finding it worthwhile, I know a little bit more and trust what comes from dreams and poetry exercises. I've given away or sold at a loss many other celtic, naturalist, pagan or animal/human decks and oracles--they didn't work with my poetry and journaling, including exploring dream themes at times.
While I do not lose sleep to do intensive dream journal work, especially on work nights or before evening class, once in awhile I find the guided imagery handy for directed writing on a topic. I usually pull a card from the Dreampower, check the exercise or suggestion.
I notice some reviewers were too literal about the suggested ways for working with the Dreampower and said the book instructs the reader to just spend time with the cards without reliance on other decks or the book. I think the book advises or suggests what might be expedient or slower, but is not as strict as people have written.
As an intermediate step, if the price of the deck is not in your budget, there is a good book on tarot and dreaming. No, I didn't find any less expensive Dreampower decks than what you see now. You can also put a price cap on a Amazon preorder--say that you won't pay more than $20.00 for a used book and deck...Dolphingirl said she did that and even received the Greenwood that way...
Best wishes

Thanks Mari, for all the great information! I am going to try the price cap at amazon, and see what happens, and also abebooks.com. You mentioned that there is a good book on tarot and dreaming...which book would that be??? ;)
Thanks again!

Lunakasha,
I just pm'd you about a used dreampower.
I found it when looking for one for a trade with Kiama.
I found the one I finally bought on eBay, which I eventually won for $25, like week ago.
*Pause for dance of joy*
Before this I hadn't heard of it, and didn't want it, so that probably helped it come my way. LOL
The one I pm'd you about was gonna be my backup copy if the eBay price went to high.
As for the tarot dream book, I wonder if it is
Tarot and Dream Interpretation, by Julie Gillentine?
It's sitting with me on the bed right now!

As for the Dreampower deck, the trump images are achingly beautiful. They are really lovely. I think they are somewhat what I'd hoped the geenwood would be?
And the spiritual male energy from the creators is lovely.
They are actually much clearer and sharper (and, I feel, flawless)
than the scans here at aeclectic are able to show:

I had a great reading with them at RJ Stewart's site prior to purchse, which helped seal it for me.
The backs are gorgeous too!
