Interracial Deck

I am not an artist, but I truly wish someone would make a deck that depicts interracial life. In this coming age of ONEnEss we need such a deck. I have beautiful ideas, but no ability to translate them into artistic drawings. There is a Hierophant card that I have seen to this affect and it is found in a deck that is not published yet and in progress: The Angel Tarot by Michela Anglea and Maria Maduki: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/angel2/index.html.
I would love an entire deck of all races represented. Does anyone know of such a deck besides Tarot of the ages?(I have that one and do not like the fact the races are segregated).

Would love to see someone with art talent, a love of humanity and our diversity, and a heart for the TAROT do something truly magical with this theme.

Hi Indigo Rose,

I'm practically positive such a deck exists. :) I just don't know the name of it.

I'm moving your post to the Tarot Decks board because you're looking for a deck instead of creating one. You're more likely to get more answers there because of the highly knowledgable taroholics. I suspect there's several decks that depict all the races. ;)

Indigo Rose  19 Nov 2003
Thanks Major Tom.

Sulis  19 Nov 2003
A deck which is full of ethnic diversity (there are blue people in there) as well as fat people and thin people is World Spirit.

Gorgeous :D

Love and light

Though not a deck I really sing praises to, have a look a the Haindl.

It has many wonderful attributes.

DreamDancer  19 Nov 2003
The Wheel of Change deck shows people of many different races through out the deck. The World Spirit often shows people of different races interacting in the same scene.

Mimers  19 Nov 2003
I too will reccomend the World Spirit Tarot. Like Sulis stated it has people of every race, shape and size. I love that about this deck.

When you spoke of Tarot of the Ages (A deck on my wish list) you said it has many cultures but they don't interact? What do you mean by this? Do you mean there is not a mix in a single card and that is what you are looking for?

Hi Mimi, the Tarot of the Ages deck, like the Ancestral Path deck, and the Court cards of the Haindl deck, uses a device of assigning each suit to a particular ethnicity. So you will find people of a particular ethnicity only relating to each other throughout the suit and not to people of different ethnicities (that was a drearily-written sentence, LOL!). I think that's what Indigo Rose is referring to by the races being segregated.

Yes, LEE that is what I was referring to; thanks. I am eager for an artist with a heart for the TAROT to create such a deck. WHO knows, maybe the further we get into this Millenium and the NEW AGE of Aquarius we will see such a thing.

SongDeva  22 Apr 2004
Don't forget that even in decks that assing an ethnicity to each suit, those ethnicities will more than likely mix in a reading!

I, too, would like to see a deck where the races interact within the cards. I know I've seen some Lovers cards where the pair are different races, and the Three of Cups on the Tarot Erotica portrays three women of various races dancing around with the cups.

I think there are a number of interracial decks, someone already mentioned the Wheel of Change Tarot, but another that I have is the Ancestral Path Tarot. Ine Ancestral Path deck (which has beautiful artwork) The Swords Suit is Japan, The Staves are Egyptian (but dark-skinned, African-American looking, to use the politically correct term), Cups is England, the white people and Pentacles (which is called Sacred Circles in this deck) are the Native Americans. As well, in there is a variety of races represented in the Major Arcana as well. I am doing a reading using this deck now actually, and it has always been good to me. :-)

There are two decks who do enter this category, one that I have, the Light And Shadow Tarot (Goepferd & Williams). It's a black and white deck and many races are on the cards:

The other is on my wishlist, the Guardians of Wisdom (Universal Power Cards) (Emy Ledbetter and Todd Hershey), the art is lovely and dreamy-like. Some suits are on particular races like asians and native american:

The Gay Tarot is multi-racial.

World Spirit cards many have many ethnicities on a single card.

Also ages. How many decks are all young beautiful people unless the card demands some age, and then the elders look to be in their late 30s?

Ace  27 Dec 2004
The WorldTree Tarot (www.worldtreeproducts.com) is NON-racial. The figures are male and female in shape, but all different colors and materials.

Otherwise, I was going to mention the Ancestral Path also.

SunChariot  27 Dec 2004
And in the Wheel of Change Tarot, the Lovers card is an interracial couple...

The Gay Tarot (which unfortunately I DO NOT HAVE BUT MUST GET) shows men of all kinds of races.

Cerulean  30 Dec 2004
because the men, women, children and others in the deck look into each other's eyes and the reflection is most likeable. I see many different sizes and shapes and the people are very interactive...I think one of my favorite cards actually shows a landscape of birds (eight of wands?). I gave my copies to some couples that really wanted a modern deck that included their lifestyle...and have to replace my missing copies!

The art is very beautiful and no one even glanced at the booklet first...although when I told them that the author was the 'guiding' spirit of the deck, they promised they would also enjoy some quiet time reading the booklet from the author....

Regards,

Cerulean
