I couldn't find a thread on this deck, if there is one can someone please re-direct me?
Never before have I been attracted to a deck like I have this one and I haven't even seen the cards, only the box!!
I am a Rider-Waite fiend, not that I not interested in other decks I might add.
Anyone who has this deck or seen it or had a reading from it please tell me about it, please please.....

I've seen the cards from the sample of this deck in the store. I find the pictorial images too small and also find them to be too detailed given the smallness of the images. You'd need a magnifying glass.
Have you checked out the Egorov Tarot deck? (Not everyone who likes the St. Petes would not necessarily like the Egorov, however.) If I had seen that deck in person at the store or available easily in Canada, I might have been tempted already to get it.

I love the Russian St. Pete's deck...It reads well, and has been a favorite of my reading decks since I first got it.
Glad you like it...

Another happy camper vote here. It's on my top five favorites.
Although many see the deck as very plain because of the icon style I find that is one of the reasons we get along so well. For me it's messages come across very clearly. In fact it is the deck I pull out most often to use for sorting out a confusing card when using other decks.

I love this deck to. And since you like Rider-Waite you'll be happy to know that this deck will be easy for you to read. As an artist myself what fascinates me about this deck is that they were painted in the size that you see them. This means that because there is so much detail the artist Yury Shakov had to at times use a brush with literaly one strand of hair in it. He used an arm brace to steady his hand and a magnifying glass. This deck was his last commissioned work of art he died in 1989.
You can see six cards here www.aeclectic.net/tarot/russian/index.html
Hope this helps. I'm very picky about my cards but this one never disappointed me. Namaste

Lark I am fascinated by the artist painting with one strand and such small detail, WOW, I love small paintings.
I looked at the six you mentioned and even though hard to see I find them exsquisite indeed. I too very picky and some have even said snobby.....
This is a definate YES for me!
Some of you said you read with it as well and I have had the feeling that I too will use it professionally. Gosh did I just say that, lil miss RW for 13 years. Oh well it has been said now!
Rusty I have never checked out the Egorov deck, in fact, don't think I have ever heard of it either!
Will look for it next time I am Tarot shopping.

Here is another fan of this deck. I love the dark rich colors, the deck has a warm friendly appeal. I really do not use St Petersburg too often to read for clients, the cards are just for my pleasure viewing.

A wonderful member from Aeclectic (where else) sent me the deck, which I have received! :D
As yet I have not had a REAL chance to play with it, but do love the intricate images and the darkness.
Am looking forward to exploring.
Thanks for your help and advice everyone! Muchly appreciated.

I didn't know much about this deck until I did a trade. I still haven't got it yet but its got a long way to come! I just cant wait. I didn't know that about the artist painting it in the actual size though. Amazing! I'm so looking forward to this because the only RW 'looky likey' I have is Spiral and I'd love to have another.

i am lucky to have the st. petersburg deck, one of my best friends gave it to me. i don't read with it, but i love to look at it every now and then. everytime i look at it, it's like i am looking at it for the first time, i am always fascinated with it. the colors are beautiful and it is very detailed. i get lost in each and every card i look at, as if i was right there.
