Greetings all:
I've been looking for a butterflly deck. I've been thinking on this deck for a few weeks now & searched the 2 sites that everyone's buys from (yes, I forgot the names-dang cold)
The idea came to me in a waking dream state. Butterflies are changeable creatures, symbolizing the birth, growth & death cycle, among other things.
I'm not an artist so creating the deck is way beyond my talents. I'm hoping that someone has come across a butterfly themed deck in their travels. Maybe someone can design one on that idea. Any help is greatful.
Peace & Blessings,
Maati

Thanks. Those are both beautiful decks but not what I had in mind. Personally, I'm thinking I might have to create the deck myself but I don't have the skills. Believe me, PhotoShop & I are at odds. But I'll keep looking & thanks to looking too.
Peace & Be Well,
Maati

There is a Butterfly Tarot, it is a majors only deck done by Sarah Scott. It was done in 1983 and I do not know if it is in print or for sale.
They're done in watercolor and ink.
They are pictured on page 126 in the Third volume of the Encyclopedia of Tarot.

First, I am grateful for your question, for it caused me to look hard and I picked a deck this weekend that had nature imagery mixed with some pretty scenes.
The Gendron tarot
http://www.tarot.com/about-tarot/decks/browsedecks.php?newdeck=10
The butterflies appear on the back of the deck, and in the face of these following cards: the Queen of Swords, Ace of Swords, Eight of Swords, Death (Renamed transition), and the Star. These are pivotal tarot cards and so I am delighted to see them on these cards. Sorry it is not all butterflies, but perhaps it will be a start for your inspiration.
Your idea is wonderful and perhaps will inspire other artists come forth with such designs, as well.
Perhaps other decks at tarot.com, such as the Enchanted Tarot has cards that you can check out for butterfly scenes and then you can have a 'composite' sample of beautiful butterfly designs.
This other idea is kind of silly, but it worked for me. I actually had the Via Tarot, a Thoth-based deck that had some great basic designs...but I found some of the side depictions in a small motif or patterns more distracting because I found them ugly--my opinion only. So I took Victorian art, butterfly, Asian motifs and flower stickers from Dover Art books and had a more decorative deck whose main motifs were still there, but added details that were significant to me. Since the book with it had the original designs of every card in black and white, I can read and see the original design as well. The stickers are removeable and do not harm the lamination and yet stay on pretty well for this deck...
Best wishes,
Mari H.

if yer looking for a deck with real looking butterflies in it, i encountered this when i searched in google:
http://www.umassmag.com/Winter_2003/Gallery__Tarot_card_432.html
i don't think the artist had it published, but rather took on the process of deck creation as an art project. from what i read in the article, the artist has had a few exhibits of these images. too bad since the only image in the article's really lovely.
