Tarot de Paris for Xmas

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 03 Dec 2003, and now archived in the Forum Library.

JPT  03 Dec 2003
To All TdP owners,

I wish I could say it was possible for Xmas but the TdP reissue will not be ready to ship until January '04. The new item will be in a tuck box (cards only). The card weight is now 335gram stock as I originally specified and the die cut is now clean. I suggested a matte finish but it wasn't possble for this short run. Only 1,500 of these decks are available so I would suggest that you put your name on the list as early as there may not be enough to go around. The TdP second printing (deck-book-scarf) will be out early next year also on St. Martin's Press: using the new improved cards stock and correcting a few typos.

Anyone interested should direct their emails to:

info@connections-publishing.com (must explain your reason for wanting a reissue deck)

I will have additional information on my site as soon as renovations (adding Japanese option and new image gallery) are completed in Jan/04. I will also be posting hundreds of extended keywords and meanings of card combinations taken from thousands of readings during this past year.

Blessings and Bananas for the coming Monkey year,
J.Philip Thomas

Thank you very much for that information. I will e-mail the company post haste. Many blessings for the new year to you, as well!

I love this deck! A friend did a reading for me and it was scary it was so accurate, that was my first intro to these pretties.

I want the whole kit & caboodle so I can wait till next year.

If they´re going to print in China, we would see you crying in no time at all.

There was a thread about that not so long ago, and we talked about The Enchanted and the Elemental.
If they´ll print in Switzerland like the Osho Zen, then you´re safe.

But watchout, you may be in dangerous waters.

Some printing in China is very good. I recently found out that Phaidon - who do beautiful design books - print everything in China. So it might be fine. I suppose it's like everything, it depends on the particular printer and how it's supervised and so on.

I'm only saying this because a while back I was very dismissive of printing in China (here on AT) and then felt bad because a friend from China told me that to equate it with poor printing was upsetting to him - he is a designer.

So does this mean we will be printing in China? Well, no actually. But that's because we pretty much love our local printers here in Prague :-)

But - fair do-s for China!

Sorry but I´d think more than twice than buying a deck
printed in China.

When you find a great printed deck printed in China let us
know , because some publishers have delivered us such crap
that If you would´ve printed the Prague in China I would´nt purchased it.

One of my main concerns right now when I purchased a deck is
where was the printing done, when it´s in Italy or Switzerland
(Italcard, AGM), I know it´s going to be delightful.

Thanks JPT. I wrote them right away. I have had this deck since shortly after it came out and I have always liked it very much.

Astraea  07 Dec 2003
I wrote to the company immediately upon reading JPT's post, but have not received a reply. Has anyone heard from them?

Marion  07 Dec 2003
Yes, I also wrote and no reply. But it has been the weekend, so I didn't expect one. I'll post if a reply arrives.

Astraea  07 Dec 2003
Thank you, Marion. So will I, if I hear anything.

Unfortunately, I didn't read this thread before I placed an order for and received my TdP/set ...!
But since I got the deck/book set at a bargain price from Amazons', which is not applicable anymore, I think I will keep it, but will remember to shuffle the cards gently, i.e. not the poker shuffle, but rather relax my grip on them which will make them more durable.
The images are stunning, and so for the bargain price I paid I know I am still a winner.

I have written to the company twice about the reissue of this great deck, and have heard nary a word from them.
