I just got this gift set at my local independent bookstore, haven't seen it in the megastores yet.
It's called Tarot Reading and it's published by Top That! Publishing, ISBN 1-84229-830-5.
It comes in a square box around 6 by 6 inches, with a full color deck measuring 3.5 by 5 inches. The cards seem quite sturdy with some kind of coating/laminate. Odd that the backs are b/w, though.
The artwork is quite lovely, and even though the minors are non-illustrated, they are well executed and colorful. And the court cards are exquisite! The box cover is illustrated with the courts, and that's what caught my eye. The artist is Colin Howard. The illustrations are lush, with minimal symbolism. Readbale right out of the box.
The set includes a fairly useless hardcover book, written by Bridget Reed. It has full color pictures of each card, with very simplistic divinatory meanings. _Nothing_ new here. Two spreads are mentioned, the Celtic Cross (of course) and the Star spread.
It's a nice deck, and with a price tag of $12.99, it would make a nice stocking stuffer for the Tarot-phile.
Check it out!

Thank you for that search..
The cards do look nice from what I could see of them. I wish they would have given a little more onfo on them.. Nice stocking stuffer idea.

I just picked this up in Asda/Wal Mart (Southgate, London, England) for £5.96.
Nice cards actually, simple, but nice. Pips not illustrations. With a small hardback book as said before.
Worth it for the price!

Interesting.
Do you think tarot has now joined the mainstream, since it's lumped together with decoupage, chess, card tricks, nail care, etc? It seems like an odd grouping to me...
