Hi,
Does anyone of you know if there is a deck with a 19th century style? I think such a deck could be very beautiful with all the gorgeous dresses and so on. I appreciate every suggestion.

That's one hundred years of history to cover, so a lot of possibilities present themselves; how about the Victoria Regina, to start off with?

be appealing to you?
There are many romantic costume tarots that came out in the 20th century to celebrate certain authors or artistic styles. Lo Scarabeo puts out many low cost tarots with multilanguage, including English booklets. There are other European publishers who do have period Napoleonic and Italian style designs and you can browse tarotgarden.com or alidastore.com for many minutes.
There are even reasonable 19th century decks from the Milanese publishers di Gumppenberg and Dotti that are reissued by Dal Negro, Lo Scarabeo and other publishers that show the costumes with delicacy and romantic flourishes.
I was first attracted to historical art theme tarots because I found a beautiful costume tarot done in 19th century Japanese woodblock print design...that is actually by U.S. Games...and there are so many, I don't know what to suggest!

Le_Corsair and WolfyJames:
Thanks for the suggestions but they are not quite what I had in mind.
Mari:
Thank you, I will certainly do that.

I am very into the 19th Century, Victorian art and literature, and I have yet to find that perfect deck. I haven't the talent to create my own deck, but hope someday someone will make one based on characters of that time period. Wouldn't that be wonderful? Maybe some of Austen's characters, Eliot, Hardy, Trollope, Brontes, and Dickens. There would be so much. Actually, a Dicken's tarot would be wonderful. So, if anyone reading this makes tarot decks, or has some connections...feel free to steal this idea and make it a reality!
