Does anyone have this deck?

If so, what do you think of it? What's it like to use?

Umbrae  30 Jan 2004
I had one.

It's beautiful - too beautiful to shuffle.

Mimers  30 Jan 2004
I fell in love with the few cards I saw on line. I love it, but it is out of print and very expensive. You should check out the review at tarot passages.

But what do the sparkly and pretty colors tell you? Do the trees seem alive and invite you into their landscape? Have the fair and brave courtiers lured you into their realms?

Tarotgarden.com used to have it, and yes, it was a magnificent price, but fair for the fact it is out of print.

I was curious as well, as it's a Marseilles-style, with very pretty colors.

I have one - and it is gorgeous, the deck is even more lovely in person than online.

It is in with my collection decks though, much too beautiful, as Umbrae said (and expensive, and other things for me) to be used.

3. She illustrated a card deck called Regions of France, Mark Filpas reviewed:

4. I'm searching for the book listed on the
Mystic Eye:

5. There's another artist's online version--pretty nifty and maybe he will finish and sell, if you like it--kind of beautiful in a darker way:

Another one to add to list of "I must collect!!"

Dark_angel  03 Feb 2004
My Gosh!

I've just looked at all the Courts (before I'd only seen the Majors and half the Minors), and now I want this deck more than ever!!!

My significator (or soul card, I suppose) is the Queen of Pentacles, and my name is Fiona. :)

It must be fate. I had a feeling she'd be that card, though, having read the books.

So, I'm now desperately searching the net for it!

Does anyone know how to get the Amber Tarot? Any suggestions as to where one would start looking?

Dark_angel  03 Feb 2004
Maybe we can persuade a couple of people to trade us them?

I don't know what we could offer in exchange, though?

How much do you think it's actually worth in terms of cash; I mean, it's beautiful, so what would be a reasonable price for it?

Astraea  03 Feb 2004
Just offering this as a guideline, since it's really all I have to go by -- I bought mine last year for $125 (without the box) from a very reputable, respected seller. It is gorgeous and I've never regretted the expenditure.

Umbrae  03 Feb 2004
I purchased mine in the winter of 02 for $150. It was sold last summer for twice that amount.

There are few of these left, and since supply is set and dwindling, and demand remains high – prices will escalate, as they do with other collectables.

Mimers  03 Feb 2004
I have seen them go for up to 300 on ebay. They are very hard to come by.

Dark_angel  03 Feb 2004
D'oh! That's like a whole months rent, food and bills. I'll need to get a job.

But if I find one, I am definitely getting it! Any ideas where to look?

Mimers  03 Feb 2004
Ebay, but you won't see it often. :(

I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a deck. Especially one with unillustrated pips.

ros  03 Feb 2004
Is there any kind of deck that may be a bit similar to this?

Dark_angel  03 Feb 2004
The worrying thing, Mimers, is that if I see it, I will try to buy it, even if it is at an extortionate price!

I love the history of the deck, and I love the minors. I have quite a few decks with unillustrated pips, like the Adrian and the Vision, and I'm getting much better with the help of Rachel Pollack's books.

I'm kind of hoping I don't see it on eBay, because if I see it, I'm liable to spend the best part of my student loan on it, which would be a very bad thing for me to do!

Orion  04 Feb 2004
No go on Ebay! Sounds like this deck is pretty hot!

Dark_angel  04 Feb 2004
I don't suppose anyone has one that they'd be willing to sell? :)

lunakasha  05 Feb 2004
Oh my! What a beautiful deck!!!

Another "must have" for me....but it sounds like the prices are way out of my range! $300??? Yikes! If only I could win the lottery...the Amber and Gilded tarots would be mine!!!!

Are there any of these for sale right now on Ebay?

:) Luna

Dark_angel  05 Feb 2004
I haven't a clue where we could get any copies. If you see a place with them, please tell me? :)

Umbrae  06 Feb 2004
Tarot Garden is the place to go, to find OOP, and HTF, decks. It caters to readers and collectors alike. It carries everything from high-end to low-end card decks.

That said, I do know that at this time – there are no Ambre Tarot decks. The last one was purchased last week. Which means…there are no known available decks in the whole world.

You know, like books, some Tarot decks raise quite quickly in value. Others do not. It all boils down to supply and demand. As long as demand remains high for this deck, price will climb.

:smoker:

Dark_angel  06 Feb 2004
Guess I'll just have to wait till someone gets bored, :) .

Probably a good thing, really, as I've no money in the world (I can't even afford to buy lunch, let alone the beer we poor students are supposed to live off!). I'm sure one will turn up eventually. :)

Thanks for your help, guys; what I'll do is email the search service at Tarotgarden and see if they can help me find one, but only when I can afford it. :)

Hi everybody,
I happen to possess a deck, it's completely new, still wrapped in plastic. As chrismass is approaching and i need money, i'm about to sell it.
I read posts on this site since a long time, and I would love to sell it to someone here.

and I anwered it :D

Gerbear  11 Nov 2004
An Amber Tarot is listed at least once a month on French ebay. Unfortunately, they are very popular in France, with the resulting high prices.
There were two on auction as of last week.
