Deck you use the most!

I was just curious, out of all the decks you own, which one do you use the most, or seems to reach out the most to you? For a long while, mine was the Sacred Rose, but I am adding to my collection, and have a feeling this will be changing, soon! I know it often depends on my mood, or even the season, or what I am using my deck for, but I bet everyone has one that speaks the most to them! I also find some decks I cannot get a good reading out of, and others are incredibly accurate.

At this point I have used my Robin Wood deck more than any other.

My favorite is still Tarot of Prague.

Astraea  13 Jan 2004
For me it's Ancestral Path, Tarot of Prague and Thoth -- I find that they coordinate well with particular moods and types of questions.

Jewel-ry  13 Jan 2004
I have used the Morgan Greer more than any other but The Tarot of Prague, The Hadar Marseille and The Crystal are also fighting for my attention too!!

I tend to use only the Morgan Greer to read with now, I get my other decks out but mainly just to look at the artwork - sometimes I'll lay a few cards or do a small spread from other decks but it is the Morgan Greer that always seems to call out to me and I seem to be able to read with it better.

I tend to be rather fickle when it comes to decks. Maybe if I wasn't getting a new one every other day, I would be able to build an intimate relationship with just one. But would I want to be monogamous? Not with tarot decks! No Way!! :)

My current favorites are:
* Blue Rose Tarot by Paula Gibby - I just got this one so I can't say that I use it the most, but already I have a great connection with it, and my readings have been incredibly insightful.

* Tarot of Prague - I use this deck when it calls to me, which has been often lately, and it is very good to me; also very insightful readings.

* Fey Tarot - always a favorite! There's just something about this deck that I adore, and I've had great success with this deck for me and for others

But the deck that I've read with, mostly for myself, for the past year and a half, is the Illuminated Tarot. She is my touchstone. I even ordered a larger deck to use when reading for others. I've used the smaller size so much for myself, that it's become "mine," if ya know what I mean!

Those above decks are for myself and for people I read for. I also do daily draws for my beginners group, posting two cards for comparison, and I break the month up in the middle. So I use four decks a month, and those are the decks that I will use the most for that period of time.

Thanks for letting me share. :)

Any old Marseille will do.

EarthAngel-

I liked what you said about a deck being your touchstone, one that truly speaks to you. I guess Sacred Rose really was, and perhaps still is, my touchstone deck, because it was the first I truly learnt on, and gave me such accurate readings.

Thanks for sharing! :)

The deck I use more than any other is the Cosmic Tribe. It is the first deck I really learned to read with and so I have a special connection with it. Reading with the Cosmic Tribe is always a sacred experience. My relationship with the tarot deepens every time I use it.

The Secret Tarots, the New Palladini, and the Fey are in High rotation right now.

jema  13 Jan 2004
Since Kaz sent me my first Thoth deck I am afraid I have been neglecting all the others. At least in self-readings or general tarot-work
When reading for others I often pick out the Osho Zen or Roots of Asia though. don't really know why.
But I am now contemplating buying yet another Thoth since the first pocket Thoth I got as a gift have been passed on to another friend (I have a feeling it is a wandering deck) and my current Thoth is falling apart from frequent use. Next time I am going for the BIG one:)

Cerulean  13 Jan 2004
but haven't decided yet for Jan/February.

Depending on how things go this week, it may be a deck that I've been saving for a special occasion, the Stained Glass Tarocco/Tarot by Luigi Scapini. I just did a New Year's reading with it and using some of the book meanings, it came up with a warm message for me...but I was in the mood to be given a soft joy with many colors and pretty, old fashioned things.

I'll add to this thread, because this is a good incentive for me to focus on just a few decks for a few weeks...

I'm with Emily on this one. The Morgan Greer has become the 'one and only'. I've never been this loyal to a deck before. Since I got Morgan Greer a few months ago I don't even seem interested in buying decks. I've had the mini Motherpeace on my list for ages but apart from that my small collection seems complete.

Love and light

Robin Wood, Universal Waite, and Morgan Greer are always out and in use for one spread or another.

I pulled my Motherpeace out to do the seeker's question and I was very surprised by the insights it gave me.
I haven't had this deck out in ages.
I think I'll keep it out for a little further exploration.

Moonbow*  13 Jan 2004
I don't think there is one deck I use more than the others. I know and relate to the Spiral well as it was my first deck but at the moment I have alot of new decks that I am still 'studying' and so I'm swapping from one to the other quite abit at the moment. The Marseilles will always play a big part in my future with Tarot. It took me a long time to realise this but it is probably the only deck where I can be truly expressive and use my own intuition and not someone else's meaning.

Well, you are all making me wanting to go peek at the Morgan Greer and see if I want to add it to my collection. I also want to look at the New Palladini. Time to browse the deck section! Seeing everyone list their favourite is so fun, because it just rectifies the need to have lots of different tarot decks out there! Each has their own flavour, so to speak.

~X~  13 Jan 2004
Lately, I've been using my Wirth and Marseille deck the most because that's what I've been studying. I can always count on my Thoth deck, though.

Ruby7  13 Jan 2004
The Hanson-Roberts is my touchstone deck and the one that I read best with. Crowley's Thoth deck does give me incredibly accurate readings but it also disturbs me and I don't feel relaxed with it. Lately I have been using the Faery Wicca a lot, since I received it as a Christmas gift. I feel very connected with the Faery Wicca but I'm not sure why.

Mimers  13 Jan 2004
The Universal Rider Waite is my comfort deck. It is the deck I learned with and can always count on good readings with it.

Ancestral Path is a close runner up. I read very well with this one too. It is definitely my favorite deck. It has also stood the test of time.

Tarot of Prague has been getting a lot of use lately as well.

oh HearthCricket...definately do not pass up the Morgan Greer!

I have taken mine out of semi-retirement to play with again, and it is the most agreeable (and forgiving!) deck that I have.

But for most of my readings,I am still with my Hanson Roberts, though I have been spending a lot of time recently with the Buckland Romani.

Melissa`  14 Jan 2004
I work with my Universal Waite and Fey decks the most. To be quite truthful, I really haven't spent much time with any of my others lately. I do, however, enjoy a good cup of coffee and thumbing through the others just too look at them once in a while.

i use the haindl deck for just about everything. i have and have had other decks but for me nothing quite gets it like the haindl. once even my dogs got my cards and out of their bag and had them strung everywhere, but thankfully it was like they hadnt even been touched and i still use them to this day. makes me wonder just might have been the deck for me.

anjocoxo  14 Jan 2004
Lately I have read more with the Fey Tarot, with the Goddess and of course, my Robin Wood holds a special place in my heart.

Seeing as I've jumped from one deck to four since joining Aeclectic... It's hard to choose :P

I use the Crystal and Spiral Tarots at least once a week, they're both so different but also so beautiful! I'm still getting used to nonscenic minors in the Crystal, though. :(

But for some reason, whenever I do a very important Spread, I always use my Rider-Waite. So maybe that's the one I'm really the most drawn to, even though I don't usually read with it.

Orion  14 Jan 2004
Definately my Robin Wood deck! I still use my Rider-Waite, but not as often.

Maan  14 Jan 2004
The Phantasmagoric theater tarot ( still my faithfull companion in hard times ) and the newcommer the Fey tarot from lo scarabeo.

lately i'm using the Fey more for the mondain work ..daily cards, week spreads quick questions and the phantasmagoric theater more for the deeper and larger spreads.
A very pleasing arrangement so far :)

MoreMagic  14 Jan 2004
The Universal Rider (the deck I learned on) when reading for others. Pretty nearly always. The Aquarian when reading for myself (alternating with the Hudes). I have about ten other decks, but I'm not sure why, at this point (terrible thing to say to the taratholics I know!) :)

*MoreMagic wanders away, thinking about looking at the trading decks forum . . .*

Nevada  14 Jan 2004
I don't have that many, and I use them all, but probably the Thoth a little more than the others.

The Morgan Greer was my favourite until recently (love the vibrant colours in this deck).

However it has been replaced by my most recent acquisition which is the Sharman-Caselli. Have found a real connection with this deck and find it a very accurate reading deck for myself and in particular when I do readings for others.

Also by starting to do the 78 week study - deck comparisons - an "old" deck I have had for a while, the Wild Spirit Tarot, has resurfaced and is now starting to make more sense. Use this one for readings for myself so far - not yet for others until I get more of a grasp and familiarity on the images.

But really like my Sharman-Caselli. :-)

Definitely my Hudes. :)

This deck reads clearly for me and gets straight to the point while still using tact. ;)

velvetmirage  17 Jan 2004
I used to use the Tarot of the Old Path but then it just stopped liking me! Now I use the Thoth, the Universal Waite and the Hanson-Roberts depending on my mood and the type of reading.

Osher  18 Jan 2004
Sometimes various people seem to connect to various decks, but in the main I use my Tarot of the Old Path.

yagottabelieve  18 Jan 2004
i use my hanson roberts miniature a great deal because i can carry it with me.

i always revert back to my original RW deck when i feel like i am trying to get through a block.

now if i could get my hands on the pocket RW it would be the best of both worlds!

and lately i have been using my froud's faerie oracle cards almost daily!

Juccota  18 Jan 2004
I use the Robin Wood Tarot all the time.

~X~  18 Jan 2004
At the moment, I'm studying non-scenic pip decks, Tarot Classic, Hadar, and Oswald Wirth.

Phoenyx*  18 Jan 2004
I change constantly with my decks, and it doesn't help that my attention seems to always get caught by new decks. :/ But, so far, I believe I've used my RW the most.

sirona86  19 Jan 2004
My trusty Universal Waite. :)
