Ive been thinking about getting the new Palladini deck. But Ive spent so much time and effort putting energy into my old Feng Shui deck... i kinda feel like im betraying my Deck if i get a new one? I Dunno... did any one else feel this way when they bought there second deck?

I can't say that I did, because I bought my second deck, the Rider-Waite, within days of acquiring my first deck, the Aquarian. Incidentally, I'd buy the Aquarian in preference to the New Palladini, if you haven't already put your choice in stone; the New Palladini is quirky and less traditional than the Aquarian, many of the people featured in the cards look reptilian or even hamster-ish, according to a recent thread.

I felt that way too, but I got over it :D All of my decks know I love them and I switch off. ( I am on the verge of a new purchase myself)

I simply decided that my decks like to rest, so having another one to take up the slack is actually doing your old faithful a favor.
Just my way of justifying numerous deck purchases!

I'm trying out using different decks for different readings. Recently I did a reading for myself, about myself, in the Seekers thread, so I used the Osho Zen deck as I think of it as a good deck for this. I also did a reading for someone else in Seekers thread about her spirituality so I tried the Inner Child cards (very pleasantly surprised by these). I am also trying to 'see' words or names so I'm playing with the Quest for that. Basically, I am trying to 'choose' the right deck for the reading and see what happens.
I do find though that I have guilt feelings about the ones I haven't used for a while. Some, I haven't used at all yet! But I will get round to them. Its all a learning curve too

Hi ol crazy legs, and welcome, by the way!
Personally I think that, as the saying goes, there's always room for one (or one hundred ;)) more, and as Moonbow has pointed out you can use different decks for different types of readings. If I'm puzzled about a throw, I sometimes set the same spread out beside it, using a second deck, and that can trigger some extra insights. So there's nothing to stop you using two decks in tandem, if you like.
I bought the New Palladini, but had some of the qualms about it that are mentioned in the thread Le Corsair has given a link for. Having said that, I gave the deck to my sister and she loves it. So you never know... :) Kate

Go for it. The New Palladini was the deck I learned with. It's a lovely deck - the colours are absolutely gorgeous. I prefer it to the Aquarian - the people in that deck just look so miserable to me :)
It's all about personal taste really but I'm sure you'll still have a very strong connection with your Feng Shui deck and you may even get some new insights from a second deck ( and a third and a forth :) ) - once you start it's very difficult to stop you know.
Love and light
Sulis xx

When you read a new book, do you feel like you're betraying the one you've just finished?
When you buy a new pair of jeans, do you feel like you're betraying your old ones?
Tarot decks don't have feelings. They're just pieces of cardboard with ink on them.

Absolutely Diana, I couldn't agree more!
Each deck does have a time and a place in my opinion. I use different decks according to my mood or the reading I am doing. That said, its always the same few decks! I do have quite a few that I have never used, but I will get round to them. At least I've stopped buying!

Of course tarot cards do not have 'feelings', but people do. Even inanimate things with which we are familiar, and which have served us well, engender feelings of, dare I say, affection, or maybe even loyalty. Perhaps 'betrayal' is a little strong to describe the disquiet felt when one leaves the familiar to try something new, but there is definitely an emotional response.
ol_crazy_legs,
My original deck, for which I have great affection, still "loves me" even though I have become quite promiscuous in my tarot deck acquistion and use. ;-)

After sticking with my 3 favorites for months (Osho Zen, original RWS, Robyn Wood--though I've acquired others), just this week I've started using the Spiral as a way to re-energize my perceptions and to find new "stories" in the cards.
Fun new things are popping up all over my readings. I see this tarot practice as a working partnership between me and Tarot-as-Resource, not as a committed marriage between me and a particular deck. And I'll always go back to the regulars as needed.

Well with these ideahs in mind, I feel better about getting a second deck. Is there anywhere where i can see more pics of the New Palladini Tarot?

Welcome, ol_crazy_legs!
And your question could not have been more timely...for me at least! I just acquired two more tarot decks today (and also an oracle deck), which brings my total up close to forty...still pretty meager compared to many of the folks here at Aeclectic ;)
I think you will find, as Imagemaker pointed out earlier, that you will use different decks for different reasons, and that it is exciting and insightful getting to know each deck individually. As Diana pointed out, it is like having several books to learn from, rather than only one!
Have fun in your quest to find the second (third...fourth...) deck!
BTW, if you do decide on Vargo's Gothic, there is a study group here at AT devoted to that deck:

Best of luck to you!

Think of yourself as a Mormon elder. You're doing your other decks a favor by getting another one. It's not that you don't love the ones you already have, you're just trying to get them companions. Plus, if you're in the mood to read and one of your decks has a headache . . .
:)

It's not really possible to develop the same depth of attachment and understanding with a pair of jeans. A tarot deck may just be pieces of card, but it is what a deck represents - all the time and emotion that goes into learning a deck - that can make putting it aside for a while quite a sad moment.
And yes, I do get that attached to certain books, most notably the Gormenghast and Lord of the Rings trilogies; I've pored over them for years, over half my life in fact (I first read LOTR when I was a kid), so there is always a sense of sadness when I finish it.

tarot cards may not be alive but you can always develop a close bond to them. i always have a feeling that they can listen to me though. if you feel like you're betraying them, why don't you ask it for it's opinion first? it's just like doing a reading, instead you're trying to ask it a question. you can make your decision after hearing what they say.
