Here's two new decks from US Games, wish I knew more about them!
The Celestial Tarot by Kay Steventon (creator of the Spiral Tarot)
release date June 2004
Medieval Cat Tarot by Lawrence Teng
release date April 2004 (I think this one has been discussed here before, and there was a website with scans, but I couldn't find it)

oi that sounds intresting.
I would love to see scan's of both decks...deffinatly the deck of kay steventon. I always loved the spiral deck for its brilliant insights in some of the minors but did not like the difference in style/setting between the majors and the minors.
Maybe this deck will make up for that.

and I gather Brian Clark is an astrologer thru net searches, but nothing else...still, June 2004 is not that far away...
Thanks for the heads up! I'm sneaking peeks at tarotgarden.com to see if they posted any new titles (I'm eagerly awaiting news or scans on the D'Estensi Tarot: Golden Tarot of the Renaissance from Lo Scarabeo or the Scapini book by Ron Decker from U.S. Games...but nothing yet...)

I couldn't find a thing that connected (old URLS!) with Medieval Cat Tarot, but did find this under the artist's name. There's 2 cards shown & the car back. I remember this site from some months ago, the backgrounds are very bland with browns & such. Sort of stylized.

And you are right about Kay Steventon--I liked her Celtic Spiral Tarot for a long time, but decided others could use it better.
I would love to see her new title and find out what slant she is coming from. Her artistic sense is wonderful.

Added: Medieval Scapini info:
Hey, the book may be out this May!
* Hardcover
* Publisher: United States Games Systems; Book and Cards edition (May 2004)
* ISBN: 1572814772
The nice replier (Liz Espinoza) from U.S. Games said it isn't something they are 'reselling' from their website and suggested ordering it from Amazon.com if it is listed on the website...although it is not available yet...

U.S. Games is offering a book and deck set...while we may have to wait for tarotgarden.com or U.S. Games to announce it, at least there's going to be something scheduled this year.
I was going to suggest looking at books that included the Scapini deck in its samples, but these books have many generic suggestions and you already have the Tarot Directory by A. Linnett.
The Juliet Sharman book Mastering the Tarot :An Advanced Personal Teaching Guide has five or six decks illustrated in a Renaissance or Medieval style and only suggests meanings generically.

I did a search inside the Juliet Sharman book on Amazon.com and 13 references to the Medieval Scapini came up, where she describes a few cards from it to other decks...maybe helpful to you if you are still waiting for the a book to be released on the Scapini...

I have a few Scapini decks which I like published by Dal Negro (Romeo and Juliet and the Stained Glass), but they have really good booklets included with them by Scapini that explains his themes. The U.S. Games Medieval isn't my favorite Scapini deck, but a well-written book could add to my
enjoyment of the the U.S. Games deck.
Best wishes,

Oh, cool, thanks HudsonGray!
I wonder if that's the card back, or the 4 of Wands...

Ooooh! Two more decks for my wish list!
Of course, US Games hasn't been on time yet, so I'm not going to get too excited about these releases until the end of the year. As far as I've heard, the Golden Tarot still isn't out, and wasn't that due back in Oct or Nov?

The Medieval Cat Tarot by Lawrence Teng is the cat tarot deck I want, I've been waiting for it to be finally released. They changed the title though, because the original title was Felisis Arca Tarot. It's such a beautiful deck, with cuty felines!!! You can find scans at TarotGarden here and admire it too:

Hmmm. With Baba Prague's Baroque Bohemian Cats Tarot, Catdoc's tarot deck, and now this one from US Games, it really looks like it going to be the Year of the Cat!
Maybe Al Stewart should consider a comeback... :D

for upcoming information regarding any new U.S. Games titles that we are discovering? Amazon.com and various online resellers are posting every week.
Browsers might just want to be aware of new titles by publisher, so things such as the new Medieval Scapini book by Ron Decker or ususual titles such as the "Royal Thai Tarot" with U.S. Games as the author show up in the same thread...or is it too unwieldy?
Here's a new listing of a Thai Tarot:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1572814721/qid=1074311165//ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i0_xgl14/002-8253997-3056842?v=glance&s=books&n=507846
I guess you could edit the title of the thread to New U.S. Games titles 2004.
Or maybe we can post a few threads
2004, Jan-June--New U.S. Games Titles
2004--Jan-June--New Lo Scarabeo Titles
2004--Jan-June--New Independent
2004--Jan-June--AGMueller...that sort of thing?
Come July-December, we could start over...and of course if someone gets a new deck, they would post independently...
Just a thought.
Mari H.
Just an idea.

Thanks for this information, Lee and others... I realised that Kay Steventon (who is Melbourne-based) was working on another deck, but had not realised it had been completed - and had been lead to believe it would take another year... also, I did not realise that she was working on it with Brian Clark. As mentioned, Brian is an astrologer with a background in Jungian-oriented psychology (& originally a North American but for a number of years also a resident of Melbourne). Both also contributed to the last Melbourne International Tarot Conference in different ways.
I look forward to the release of the deck... but suspect that it will again not make it amongst my favourites, as I suspect it will, like the Spiral, be embedded with GD attributions...

Good idea, Mari, it would be fine with me to rename this thread, perhaps the moderators could do that?

All these pending releases are great, but when, oh when, are they going to re-release the Hermetic Tarot (Dowson)?

Mari I was not aware a book on the Medieval Scapini was coming out. Do you have any more info?
Been hoping for ages that one would be written.
