There is an interview with Karen Mahony and Alex Ukolov, the artistic talents behind the Tarot of Prague, at Tarot Garden, by Dan Pelletier. For those of you familiar with the Tarot of Prague, the interview is a first because Alex actually answers some of the questions, thus proving to the tarot world that he does, in fact, exist. :D It's a fun interview!

I think there's a link to it at the very top of the Tarot Garden home page. Bob's link did work for me, though.

I didn't use your link, I used the link in my favorites. When I got to their home page, I couldn't find the interview. Is it on the TG home page??
Well, I have it now. Thanks Bob

Yes, Alex exists - honest.
But it wasn't easy getting him to take part in this interview (he is not a very public person as you may have guessed). Dan did a good job of gentle persuasion.
It's just that he always says (and always has, since I met him) that he wants to be judged by his work, not his words.
In fact, in day to day living, he's very articulate indeed :-)

I note that Dan Pelletier (Umbrae, at Aeclectic) is now listed as one of Tarot Garden's proprietors. Congratulations on your association with the wonderful Jeannette and Tarot Garden, Umbrae!

I will start by saying that was a very well done and interesting interview. Thank you Umbrae, Karen and Alex.
When I got to the very bottom, my heart started to pound and I stared at the World card from the unnamed deck they are working on with Zdenek Mezl. How breathtaking. How absolutely breathtaking. And with wood blocks! The detail is amazing! I anxiously await to hear more about this deck. The symbolism and the uniqueness. I think that they will outdo themselves with this deck.
Le Corsair, you once did a poll about how much would you spend on your dream deck. I think I answered the most I would spend was 50. That was before I saw this..... I would go all out for this.

What a great interview Baba, Alex and Umbrae.
I found it almost as inspiring as the deck. I am planning a visit to Prague, later on in the year hopefully, to investigate some of the wonderful places and statues that you have depicted in the deck. The city seems so interesting and I've found out I can fly from a local airport which makes it even better. I feel a week-end break coming on...

That was a really great article. I'm hoping the Tarot of Prague will be my next deck anyway, but I really enjoyed learning more about how the deck was created. And the deck with Zdenek Mezl - all I can say is - wow.
More than that though, I have to admit the article made me add Prague to my list of "places I want to visit someday".

Yes the article is brilliant. I found very interesting the illustrated example of the painting of the Duke of Wallenstein that was used to create the Knight of Swords card from the Tarot of Prague! You can only start to imagine how much work is behind every card before they end up in our little hands ...
Both new creations by Alex and Karen are definitely on my wishlist.
It was a great pleasure to "hear" Alex's voice as well, not that I am fed up with Karen's though ;) ... The whole interview was a brilliant idea.

That was a pleasure to read. I ordered the Tarot of Prauge about a week ago and can't wait to get it. My dad was born in Prague and lived there until he was 28, when he came here to Canada. I can't wait to show him the deck and let him read the book (he's currently skeptical that tarot is good for much of anything - he just sits and reads Plato day in and day out, lol). But I'm sure he'll be able to sit and muse over this deck for hours - I'll just conveniently leave it lying out in the living room for him.
