Merryday Tarot: still in print?

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 12 Feb 2004, and now archived in the Forum Library.

I was just visiting the Merryday Tarot website:

http://www.merrydaytarot.com

I was admiring the cards and started thinking about ordering the deck/book set. It is listed there for $45 plus shipping. I then went to amazon.com to compare prices, but amazon only has the deck, which is selling used for $186.50!!!!

So this is making me think that it must not be available at the bargain price listed on the website, right???

If anyone has ordered this one lately, or knows whether it is OOP or not, please let me know...

THanks!
:) Luna

RedWood  12 Feb 2004
Sure thing! As soon as I hear.

I got an excellent reading from starsong with the deck using numerology normally I dont like numerology but it seems very interesting and the cards are beautiful!

Gerbear  12 Feb 2004
The Merryday is listed as in stock at Tarotgarden. The deck is $25, and the deck/book set is $45.

Mimers  12 Feb 2004
I just recently got this deck from tarot garden, http://www.tarotgarden.com/

I love it. I just got the deck, not the set. It is a great deck and I love reading with it.

Mimi

Worth every penny!

Hedera  12 Feb 2004
Yes, it's still easily available (and a wonderful deck).
The listing on Amazon is just a rip-off......

Rusty Neon  12 Feb 2004
The merryday website has the deck at $24.95 U.S. plus shipping/handling The deck/book set is $45.00.

Oh, and a little tip: the deck often seems to have a couple of cards that are a little 'flawed', uneven borders etc.

Probably due to being self-published by someone who's new to publishing decks.

I ordered directly from the site, and had two faulty cards. They were very nice about it and sent me replacement cards right away, without any cost.

You might want to take a good look at your copy once you get it.

Thanks Hedera! Good to know! ;)

I couldn't believe they were selling for $186-195 at amazon...that is why I thought they were OOP....how are they going to sell for that much??? I know that the saavy shoppers here at AT will know better than to fall for such a scam...if there is one thing they've taught me here, it is to ALWAYS compare prices!

Well, I went back to Amazon.com, and sure enough, one of the booksellers there is still trying to scam people into paying $190.00 and change for this "rare and hard to find deck"..........GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!

So I wrote a review and mentioned that, contrary to what one might hear from some "morally ambiguous" online sellers, the deck is still in print and available at the author's website....I listed the price as $45 for the cards and book SET, and listed her website too!!! I am betting amazon decides not to post my review as it might make them/their booksellers look "immoral" or like the blatant rip-off artists that they really are!!!! LOL....man, that felt good!

:) Luna

Lee  29 Feb 2004
Good for you, Luna! My feeling is that they'll probably post your review, but they may blank out the price and author website, since they usually don't allow those in any reader reviews. But even if they do that, it'll still be good because you'll still have gotten your point across.

lunakasha  29 Feb 2004
Thanks Lee.....

I just checked and amazon does have my review posted, including the price and name of the website, but....it is not on the "front" page, you have to click where it says "Read all 5 reviews", so I am not sure how many people will see it :( I find it interesting that they list 4 of the 5 reviews on the front page, including some really old ones (2000)...oh well, I did what I could!

:) Luna

fairyhedgehog  29 Feb 2004
Your review is at the top when I view that page :) I've rated it 'yes' as helpful :)

Hedera  29 Feb 2004
Hey, that's great! :)

I didn't even think of that....

Cool...thanks fairyhedgehog!!!
Yes, they apparently moved it to the front page :D
Hopefully this will prevent some poor soul from paying
waaaay too much for the Merryday!!! And, my other purpose
for writing the review was the hope that this bookseller on
Amazon will read the review and feel really stupid and/or guilty
for charging almost $200 for this deck...shame on him/her!

:D Luna

Nevada  29 Feb 2004
Oh, I'm glad you posted this question. I had this deck on my wishlist until I saw that price at Amazon. It's a great relief to see it's available elsewhere at a reasonable price. It's such a pretty deck.

lunakasha  01 Mar 2004
I am glad to have helped, Nevada ;)

I hope you are able to order it from Louisa's website (or tarotgarden has it for the same price). It is a very beautiful deck and I am enjoying it very much...

I finally received my Merryday set yesterday - I've been waiting over a month. I ordered the set at the end of February from the Merrryday website.

The supplier emailed me and was unfortunately out of town - and the person that was supposed to do the mailings fell through at the last minute. He was SUPER nice and offered a refund.. but told me if I waited he would also send me a color print of any card in the deck..

Yesterday my deck, book, and Moon print arrived.. and I really love this set. This book is much different and I am interested in reading about the numerology the author uses... I can't wait to FIND SOME TIME (is that possible??) to dive into it...
