How much will you people actually dish out for a deck of tarot cards you REALLY liked?
£200-£400? ( about £300-£700?)
Or maybe £10...

With the budget right now, maybe $60. Things are tight.

No more than I pay for other ones! $25, tops.

What's money?
Can't buy you love, but it can buy you a really rare deck.

Well, I've just spent $355 on a deck on eBay, so I'm with Umbrae on this one.
If I can afford it and have wanted it for positively ages, I'll get it. (Now, off to extend my overdraft.... :D)

eek! Well, I actually admire you for going for it. I'm not sure if I'd ever spend so much. I did bid a lot for a historical deck a few months ago and I was half relieved and half disappointed that I didn't get it.
The most I've spent was on my Canosa decks - but it was less than the normal price as I bought from his gallery here - last two sets too! (yes, I will finally confess that I bought both as it seemed a once-only opportunity - and no, I won't resell or trade one - though maybe one day I will). It was a lot of money at the time, but I've never regretted it.
Basically, I do think one deck you really want is usually a better buy than half a dozen cheap decks that you won't use.
I think I'm with Umbrae and Dark_angel.

Hi There
Well to me it really depends on alot of factors.
How much I really want the deck? If I have been crying over it for months and can't get it out of my mind then it is worth it to me.
how rare is it? Like a limited edition of 50 would make it worth more to me than a deck that is oop but that the company printed 5000 copies of. So I do look at how much of a chance to I have to find it again if I don't buy it now.
Is it a artist deck? To me decks that are handmade or made by the artist are worth more to me than a deck published by the big publishers. Handmaking each of my tarot decks myself has really made me appreciate not only how much time it takes the artist to create the artwork itself but also how much time it might take them to make each specific deck.
Does the artist take time payments or do they like to trade. An expensive deck that I might not be able to buy if I spent the money all at once becomes much more affordable to me if I can do time payments or if I have a deck to trade so that I don't have to come up with all the $$ in cash.
That all said my main reason for deciding whether a deck is to much money is how tight finances are at the time. All that taken into account I would have to really love the deck to spend more than $150

I'd have to concur.... I've been debating taking the plunge and getting the Blue Rose Tarot. At this time in my life I think $200 would be the upper limit for a deck that I would have to have. But I'm also a big fan of looking in lots and lots of places before purchasing. A deck that I really wanted was $125 everywhere I looked but I bided my time and managed to get it for $43.

The most I've spent so far is $150, however it was for an OOP deck.
There is one at TarotGarden for $200 that I'm considering.

The most I've ever paid for a deck is $45. I don't think I'd pay much higher than that for a single deck. I prefer to keep it under $20 for a single deck; however the 2 decks that I paid $45 a piece for were the Nefertari (gold foil) and Visconti-Sforza (historic) so I think it was worth it for those two.
As far as a deck set, I think the most I have paid is about $45-$50. Once again, I'd rather keep my deck sets under $30 when possible.
So, all in all I don't think I'd pay over $50!

I'm not quite sure. There are a couple I'm watching on Ebay -- a first edition of the Mountain Dream and a Greenwood.
I've also e-mailed the artist for info about the Blue Rose, but haven't heard back yet.
Certainly, up to $100 if it was something I really wanted.
More, if ???
