hello,
i've been checking this forumforabout more than a year now. however,it is now that iregistered.
I am looking for a new tarot/oracle set. currently, i have the mythic tarot, karma cards, and Spanish (Spain playing cards) cards. I have been attracted to the tarot of transformation, the A.C thot, theOsho Zen, and now the Froud faeries.
Any suggestions? I havea limited budget at the moment,so i want to get one that i can use for a while until my budget streches again. what i am looking for is something less strict than the Mythic. Although i must say that the MTarothas become more and more flexible. I want to use something that i can rely more in my Intuition and card-talk than the LWB.
Also, I have been learning to read Spanish playing cards. they are SO accurate and also a little more dedication-needed than regular tarot. However,I amnot sure which playing cards peopleare referring to when they say that they don;'t have the major and minor arcanas??? mine are complete.
Sorry, but as you can see i had a couple of things to ask/share anddidn't know where to put them
thanks
yaraluna

Hi yaraluna, welcome to Aeclectic! :) We're glad to have you with us.
I'm interested in the Spanish playing cards you mention. Do you mean to say that they have Major and Minor Arcanas? Perhaps it is this deck:
http://www.tarot.com/about-tarot/decks/browsedecks.php?newdeck=15
That site calls it the Marseilles, but it's sold under the name "Spanish Tarot." If that's the deck you have, then it's a version of the Marseilles Tarot, which was the most popular form of deck in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

Thanks for the welcoming message!
My mistake, my set has the minor no major. however, the way we read it I don't find theMArcana necessary. It is not themarseilles. It is a set of playing cards that are used in LAtin American countries and other countries as well. It is like the marseille that you mentioned, but without the MA.

Welcome!
Kudos to you, yaraluna, for the ability to read with the Spanish playing cards!
I have a set and I gave it a go...I really wanted to be able to use them, because my abuelita read with them, and my mom swears that I got "the gift" from gramma...but alas, I could not read the forty-card deck.
Instead, I read with a deck of fifty-two; I totally agree with you about the accuracy and so on.
In terms of intuition, I suggest the Osho Zen Tarot, definitely.
The Osho Zen will keep you busy well past the time you are able to invest in another deck; there is much to discover in this deck, and plenty of people here who would be glad to discuss it with you as you study it.
The Froud's Oracle might also work, but it isn't as symbolically universal as the Osho Zen, as it is the specific theme of faeries.
It does connect on an intuitive level for those who use it, though, and would be the better choice if you prefer an oracle over a tarot.
It is ultimately up to you and what calls to you, of course.
I'm especially interested in what you choose, considering your current decks--what an interesting set of tools!
Keep us posted on your final choice, okay?
:)

Look at the discount places for new tarot decks, like www.overstock.com Go to their book section & type in "Tarot", it has 20 pages of tarot decks & books at 30-50% off so your money will go further. That, and also ebay, a few decks like the Gendron have gone for a mere $1 dollar there. Add $4 shipping & you've gotten a good deal (OR check out the trade section here, you can trade more than books or decks with the people who have decks up).
