I was already happy with my 'new' PoMo and Native American decks, when I got another new baby--and THEN some!
My friend Marie-Helene recently returned from her travels to France and then California, having shopped for me a bit along her way; her kindness has happily expanded my little tarot collection by four more decks!
I am now the proud owner of three new decks from France: a standard-sized Grimaud Marseille (a Marseille from Marseille!), a mini-sized Grimaud Marseille, a petit Lenormand, and a Buckland Romani (that one's from closer to home).
I love all of my new acquisitions, but I have especially wanted a Grimaud Marseille for a very long time--now, I have two of them!
WOO-HOO! I have a Marseille, I have a Marseille!!!

Congratulations .... You can't miss with the Grimaud. Its design closely follows 18th century Conver Tarot de Marseille designs. And just think: If you're using it when it's waking hours in France, someone somewhere there is using it. That's because it's the most widely employed tarot deck in France. It's also the deck that most non-scenic pip card tarot decks in France are cloned from.
The blues and the greens in the French-titles regular size Grimaud are quite dark, at least in the one I have. Since you have the mini-size Grimaud as well, I was wondering whether the blues and greens are less dark in that deck.

Hi Tauni
I can feel your excitement, :D its so good that more and more people are getting marseilles decks. Does anyone have a link so that we can see this Grimaud marseilles?
I also have Lenormand cards and I find them quite facinating - different to tarot but I get very immersed in them. Have fun with all your decks.

Is there a deck booklet for your Grimaud? I got a Grimaud Tarot Epinal at a used bookstore and it came with a booklet in English and French -- that reminds me, I'd like to get the booklet out and maybe use it with my Vieville for an attempt at reading...
I've been just enjoying the nonstandard designs of the Vieville deck so far. However, it would be more fun to see if I can read with the old style design...

Rusty, yes, I noticed that, too.
The dark tones are the same in the Mini Grimaud--the blues perhaps even darker, but I think that's just me....I shouldn't have squinted and stared so long!
Tauni staggers about, swatting at tiny, floating balls of light in front of her eyes....
"....I'm seeing in primary colors, with bold black lines and snippets of green...."

Yes, Mari, it comes with a French/English booklet; so does the Mini--thank goodness!
The Dutch version I have has a LWB only in Dutch, however.
I'm assuming that is because the French Grimaud Marseille is desired by a wider audience.

Rusty,
I have the Petit Lenormand....
Though I posted a beautiful response on your thread, before I realized it was about the wrong deck!
So sorry!

My gosh! Sorry about that! I had read your initial post and mistakenly read Petit Etteilla! The Petit Etteilla doesn't seem to be a popular pick amongst collectors here. :)
P.S.: I do have the Petit Lenormand too ... along with a pretty good book in French on the Grand Lenormand, which would double as a commentary on the Petit Lenormand cards as well.
