Decks Which Hit Your Tarot G-Spot!

G-Spot? Perhaps T-Spot might have been more appropriate. Whatever.
My query:-
There are numerous threads in which people name their favourite decks, etc. But what I am interested is THE deck which is sending you into tarot-orgasm overdrive at the moment: you know the one... the deck which makes you salivate at the mere thought of it! The deck which send you into excitement with anticipation.
It does not have to be a deck which is available at present, but I have no doubt that there must be at least ONE which is turning up your tarot-drive. Haha.
So, please... name the deck, and your reasons as to why it evokes such a strong reaction!
I await with bated breath.
Mine? Vertigo. Why? Well, it is dark, sensuous, and fantastic. Oh, and I do not have it. That always makes me want it even more!

Hi,
I'd have to say the deck I'm most anticipating is Blue Fusion's Masque Tarot. Every time I look at it, my heart starts pounding and feelings of joy permeate my body. I really can't wait until it's finished. The images are so beautiful, dancing, alive, and the colorful stained glass effect takes my breath away. If I look too long, I actually start to get lightheaded! Not too many decks evoke such a response from me...right now...I can name only two others that have had this effect on me: The Quest and The Gilded Tarot. I have Quest (love it and use it constantly) and hoping my hubby will get me a copy of the special edition Gilded for our wedding anniversary in July. I've dropped plenty of hints but so far, he's been rather close mouthed about the issue.
Joy to you,
Maralee

Gilded.
The first images I saw, made me want to cry.
I anticipate that it will be THE deck in my collection.
I have never seen another that made me so emotional.

Great title! ;)
... Hmmm? I know you asked for THE deck.. but I can't narrow things down (sorry, I'm forever the 7 of cups - can't make up my mind!)
Two decks I *own* that make me "salivate" are my Froud Faerie Oracle and my Shapeshifter Tarot ( I adore the art!).
Two decks I do not own yet, but that I expect will make me giddy when I do are the Gilded Tarot and the Merryday Tarot (which has been ordered)...
..and FINALLY.. I can think of THREE decks that do not even exist.. but if made, would make me scream with delight ;)
1. A Lord of the Rings tarot that is made with the same 'perfectness' that the movies were made with...
2. A Faerie tarot based on the artwork of Amy Brown...
and..
3. An animal deck that shows the animals in the scenes (like the Animal Lords), but does not show them as half people (unlike the animal lords).. BUT is done in a Whimsical /Fantasy style artwork (like Shapeshifter....)..
I'm sure that was more info than you were looking for, but fun question.

Ciro Marchetti's Gilded Tarot.....no question about it!
Why??? Well, for many reasons, which I have mentioned already on several threads...sorry if I sound repetitive to those of you who have read some of my posts (thanks for bearing with me :P)
But like you said, Centaur, this should be a deck that really hits you where it hurts...but the pain is fleeting and then quickly leads to ecstasy...
When I first laid eyes on the Gilded Tarot, many months ago, it was like I was seeing something so amazing, so incredibly BEAUTIFUL.....I just couldn't believe my eyes! The artwork of these cards, representing many MANY hours of blood, sweat and tears by the artist....were beyond anything I had seen before. For me, it felt like I had stepped into another world, literally.....a world of bright and shiny pools of liquid color, with brilliant hints of gold so intense that I could have sworn the cards were painted with 24K gold! In these images, Mr. Marchetti uses colors that are rarely seen in tarot decks, especially in computer-generated images. His skills as a graphic designer and visionary artist are, IMO, unequalled.
But on top of all of the technical and artistic merits of his work....he has created a truly authentic tarot deck! In other words: HE GETS IT! Marchetti did his homework, he spent a considerable amount of time getting to know tarot before attempting to create his Gilded Tarot, and the resulting cards reflect that effort. Although I have not had the priviledge of being able to work with these cards myself :( I have read many reviews from professionals and AT members who have given the Gilded Tarot their highest praise as not only a beautiful and impressive work of art, but also an intuitive and highly-usable reading deck!
So there you have it...The Gilded Tarot...my dream deck, the one that haunts my dreams and makes me salivate at the mere mention of it! And since I cannot afford the Special Edition deck, I will be waiting for several more months for the Llewellyn edition...
Thanks for giving me another opportunity to express my love of this most beautiful deck and supremely talented artist!

The deck I am most eagerly awaiting publication is the Ironwing Tarot, by Lorena Moore. Lorena's intricate organic/cosmic artwork really gets me bubbling! I am the proud owner of the original artwork for The Sun card, and it graces my tarot work/reading table, shining and inspiring me.
Another deck that stirs my juices is the Mary-El Tarot, by Marie White. I have the Limited Edition (majors only), and looking forward to someday holding the whole deck in my hands. The figures and artwork are powerful and beautiful, mythic yet human.
An awesome deck that I was finally able to track down is the Tarot de la Rea, by Alain Bocher. This deck is literally edged in gold, with gold and silver accents on all the cards. The figures in the majors and courts, as well as on the back of the cards, all have stylistic masks instead of heads, which is very intriguing and effective. The deck comes in a leather box, with 2 gold-lined wells and a red ribbon for the cards. The artwork on the majors are reminiscent of the Tarot de Marseilles, while the minors are unique and energetic arrangements of the suit symbols. I was fortunate to actually get 2 of the Rea decks, so I have a working copy and one for safekeeping in case I drool too much on the other deck!

I would have to say that the Gaian Tarot is the one that does it for me. There is something magical about the artwork. The images are obviously inspired by the RWS system, yet they are so much more. I'm not sure I can put into words what makes the deck so wonderful, but I think it is the mixture of mystery and familiarity that the figures seem to give off.
Of course, I reserve judgement until I see how the artist will represent the Minor Arcana, but this is a deck I truely can't wait to have.

I had forgotten how much I LOVE the Gaian too...need to add that one to my wishlist! ;) I had not seen the Ironwing or Vespertine decks before....but I am now officially a fan of both of them! Very distinctive, all three of them....timed to edit the wishlist, LOL :P

I have 3. Fortunately, I own all of them.
The Faeries Oracle.
These little faeries are good friends of mine; we have a love-love relationship. I can read them so well at times, and yet at others they can hide their meaning completely; I feel a deep connection to them, and have from the second I saw them sitting lonely and forlorn on an Ottakar's shelf.
The Amber Tarot.
I don't have the words to describe this deck and how it made me feel when I first saw it... and then to hold it in my hands.... The artwork, the stories behind it, the romance, the symbolism... this is The One in terms of Tarot decks for me. It's the deck I'd marry.
The Vertigo.
Love it love it love it. The darkness, the moodiness... it's like the bad boy you know you shouldn't date but do anyway... ;)

Yes. Thanks for the links! Great decks... I love the Mary-El.
And how could I forget the Gilded! Lunakasha you so excellently described the exact way I feel for that deck! I am pining for it, but unfortunately I cannot afford any decks at the moment, so the limited edition is definetly out of the question.
I will have to make do with tarot-porn, ie. scans. Haha.
With regards to the Vertigo, I think I could really connect with that imagery. Deep, purposeful, and often disturbing. It is almost as though that deck has a heartbeat.
I want it!
Yes... there are numerous decks that I like and that I want, but the Vertigo and perhaps a handful of others are in a different league completely.

Thanks, Centaur! I loooooove tarot-porn.....I have dedicated an entire section of my tarot journal to color photocopies of these elusive decks that I can't find or afford.....
*sigh* I try to enjoy them and not get too depressed about not having them! Like darkangel said, it is not unlike a torrid, obsessive love affair...only for me, my heart belongs to a "golden boy" rather than the "bad boy".....

For me this deck doesn't exist, and it may well never (outside of my own conception of it).
The deck that would end all decks for me would be one based on the integral philosophical models of Ken Wilber:
http://wilber.shambhala.com/
http://www.integralnaked.org/
http://www.integralinstitute.org/home.htm
and illustrated by the perfect vision and hand of Alex Grey:
http://www.alexgrey.com/
preferably with all original artwork made exclusively for the deck, despite the fact that you could probably make a whole tarot deck from one of his larger pieces alone.
To stick with Centaur's analogy in this thread, such a deck would have me ejaculating. lol.

G-spot... Hehe... :D It would have to be some deck to hit that spot but since I believe you meant a deck that you just have to get...
I can't totally be sure about this since I haven't got it yet but I believe it will be Golden Tarot by Kat Black!! I usually never get the 'this is the one'-feeling about a deck but since I first saw it I knew it was what I had been looking for so long!
I think there are several of us who have the Golden Tarot fever... I've even promised all kinds of things to my husband to make it up to him that I once again 'waste' his money on useless cards... "I have savings, I'll pay it myself", "I can stop buying candy and make-up and sodas and and... And this is the ONE, then I won't have to buy another deck ever again! Please, please, pretty please?"

I suppose that if I were to pick a deck that actually exists it would also be the tarot of prague right now, because I have it on order and I know I'm going to be waiting a while and also because I know it will make my dad look at a tarot deck with some interest, which should be pretty cool.

I have to sigh and confess. It is almost an illicit, not-so-secret passion. I even told my husband not three minutes ago that I would be jumping him if he managed to have the two that I've locked up in secret places...and if he had an English translation!
Tarocchi di Matteo Maria Boiardo--in my dreams it is not in 15th century Tuscan, but in English. I have an Italian book on order with the verses that should arrive soon...but it's not translated.
Two historically dedicated decks to the Estensi...one, I clipped out of artbooks until Lo Scarabeo will be re-issuing as a gilded tarot as the Estensi Tarot.
I do very much enjoy my Visconti and other Milanese variations...but the combination of poetry and history has my mental passions a tingle...

Hi Centaur,
ROTFL! I'll have to ask my hubby if he has a hypothetical homosexual g-spot or knows of anyone who does!
I leave the blank card out for now since I haven't decided what I'm going to put on it that will go with this style of deck. I do use the Multiverse card. I think it's a great addition but I happen to like decks that contain extra cards. That's why I put extras in the tarot decks I created because I think they're very useful. :-)

LOL. I wouldn't expect him to have one. It's a gay thing (we could debate this, but not on this thread, LOL), and only us gay-men have one (well, some of us at least ;). Mwaha.
Anyway...
I think that the author of the Quest stated that one could put an image on the blank-card or something... I dunno... I think if I was to get the Quest then I might not use the blank-card. I'd leave it aside. :)

Here's the Sola Busca (also called Illuminating Ancient Tarots):
http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/sola-busca/
It's a Lo Scarabeo deck, so it's got various languages on it including English. The titles on the cards don't look like English because they're the names of the warriors pictured on the cards. The Majors, by the way, are not standard Tarot Majors; they're famous classical warriors. So I don't think one could really use this as a Tarot deck.

Hi Centaur,
Actually The Sola Busca (aka Ancient Enlightened Tarot) has 4 interpretations of the names on each card.
For example, I am holding The Emperor, which also says on the card: L'Empereur, Der Herrscher, El Emperador...
And then, on the bottom, they all have human names. This one says Mario.
Apparently the names come from characters in Roman History.
I believe there is a book that goes with it, but I only have the LWB.

Vargo's Gothic tarot.
Hard to pick just one but I've been lusting after this deck so I'll dub it my g-spot deck (for now) ;)
The images are ethereal, sensuous and sublime.
And The Vertigo, it seems as if many of us are having multiple orgasms over this deck.
I'm worried that if I ever get the Vertigo tarot it may have performance anxiety. It has so many expectations to meet.

Hey Purp,
They do list who did what in the book that comes with the deck. Let's see, the Moon is done by Mark Tetton using colored pencils and some sponging.
This deck is consistantly good. Every card is a work of art. There are no cards that dissapoint me. Each card is very deep. My fav is the 6 of Wands.
I recomend this for everyone, but especially for those who like a lot of symbolism, and like collage decks.
The bag it comes in and the book are very good too! It is worth the $40!

I picked up the Artist's Inner Vision last week and really love the diversity of the deck. Kind of a funny story on how I acquired it - I had seen it online and knew I had to have it. Alot of times I don't like to order decks - I prefer to hunt for them and be pleased when I happen upon it in a store.
There is this little shop in upstate NY which I like to frequent when there on my business trips. I saw the AIV on their website and stopped in about three weeks to ask about it. The owner wasn't aware that they offered it (apparently just about every deck is on their site, if not in the store). He pulled it up on the computer and went "hmmm". That was the end of the coversation (as I proceeded to buy two other decks from him, hehe).
Last week I went back in and was leaning over the counter looking at their decks. The woman asked me if there was anything in particular I was looking for ("well yeah, just about everything"). I mentioned the AIV and another employee said they had one in the back. Of course I bought it. When I went in the next day, I talked to the male employee I had talked to in previous visits. I mentioned buying the AIV the previous day and suggested to him that they should get more - maybe even offer them up on eBay because not many people carry it. He said that he was happy this one was sold because it was special ordered for someone but in personnel turnover, nobody seemed to know who it was.
Of course I knew right away he ordered it because of my conversation with the owner. The following day they were planning on putting it on display. This is one case where I feel the deck found me - it was meant to be with me. Hopefully I will be able to read with it.
Sorry for the long story, but I thought it was funny how I ended up with the deck.

I have to copy paste as the day I can type this without visual aids is the day it will be available again:
Tarocco Storico della Citta Di Ferrara
WOW I said when I first saw the images we have here. -Gonna have eBay email me if ever a listing comes up!
I have an "if only": The Old English Tarot, by Maggies Kneen, if she'd go and redo about half of the minors to give some clue about their meaning...then that deck and me will ride off into the fairy tale sunset together and possibly never look back...sigh...I pick it up and look at it and wish now and then...

Hi Shalott!
The Citta di Ferrara is one of my all-time favorites too, probably my favorite Folchi....but alas, I have little hope of acquiring this rare and lovely deck for myself. Even if I saw it on ebay, I don't think I could/would spend as much as most collectors are willing to bid. Ah well....it is nice that we can at least view some of the cards online at no charge! :D :D :D

Well, I don't know which deck hits my g-spot (particularly since I'm male :P ), but the deck that "speaks to me", as it were, is the Rohrig Tarot... it's the only deck that I knew I had to have as soon as I saw it. Having been brought up in the RWS tradition, it took some getting used to in practice, but it's now my favorite deck for readings, as well.

Do you have a link where I could see some of these cards. I searched for them here, but was unable to find them.
Your enthusiasm about them has made me curious.

I am so happy, Oak Dragon, that I finally found someone else to whom the Rohrig deck speaks so eloquently!
It was the first deck I bought because I was blown away by the vividness of the artwork. The Magus seemed to be speaking to me directly.
Although I am a woman, and the Rohrig tarot is a very sensual, not to say erotic, deck because of Rohrig's obvious and admitted love of women, I looked at the High Priestess and there I was, metaphorically speaking of course. I then came across the Hermit, and there I was again. Even the Minors are beautiful with their distant vistas to the horizon.
As much as I love my other decks, including Voyager, I would have to say that the Rohrig thrills me with sensory impressions. They have also been so true to me, every time I have turned to them. :)

Sounds like I feel much the same way you do about the deck. It's so hard to say which my favorite card is... they're all beautiful in their own ways and I feel a connection with them all at various times. I guess I feel most associated with the Hermit, though... He and I are alot alike :P
The Chariot and, strangely enough, the Princess of Wands seem to come up alot in my own readings.

Hello again, OakDragon :)
I quote the following from what I wrote over at the
www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23373
thread:
Am I right in understanding that the last study/exploration Rohrig group was some time ago?
If so, Happiness, and fellow Rohrigphiles, what think you if we sarted another -- a new, renewed? -- study/exploration group for this deck?
I would love us all to jump into the Rohrig world and travel its many paths together... Would you join me?
Would you, OakDragon (lovely name btw), be interested in collaborating in a Rohrig exploration/journey in a new thread? I think it would be interesting to do it as a narrative (like jumping into the deck)...
I would love to explore this deck with fellow Rohrig afficionados like you! Let me know what you or others you know who love the Rohrig think of this idea. :)

Ah, yes, I'd love to! I was actually in the middle of composing a reply to that thread in my spare time, but hadn't finished it yet. I'm surprised to find so many Rohrig aficionados here. I had gotten the vibe in the past that the deck was frowned upon for it's erotic imagery (which is artistic and tastefully done, IMO).
Thanks for the compliment on my name! I thought it sounded cool... I envision a dragon that is the embodiment of the oak tree (CA. live oak, to be specific) and whose skin looks like it was made of oak bark.

Lately I haven't found many of the newer decks that hit that certain spot :P Or alot of times they make me crazy when I see just a few of the cards online then when I get to see them up close they just don't have that same feeling. One deck that i have been stuck on lately is the Wolf Pack tarot. Also the Fey hit that spot but I just can't seem to read with it as well as I would like. I do so love hearing what pthers like, alot of times it will make me fall in love with a deck all over again or see it in a different light.

I tried, but couldn't get the list to fewer than 3.
In no order:
Tarot of Prague
Golden Tarot
Cosmic Tribe
All three speak to me on so many levels... the design, the imagination and wisdom of the creators, the damned beauty of them.
And having read through the post there's a couple new ones hitting my spot too!

If it's this deck www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/golden/, Centaur, I think, first, that it is difficult, from these images alone, to appreciate these cards as they deserve, since the 'real' ones must be gilded, which would lend them great beauty.
Am I right in assuming that they are gilded?
I confess that I am more attracted to less traditional decks, but the gothic and renaissance images are beautiful and their arrangement unusual.
Perhaps when I have had more experience with the tarot, I will wish to return to its more traditional symbology, much in the same way as my experience with the music of Bach.
In my twenties, Bach was an unending crescendo of fugues, now, I am able to perceive subtleties in the music, and nuances in the tone and mood it evokes, for which I had less patience before. :)
Is this your only ONE, or is there another deck, unowned yet, perhaps, that you feel might 'transport' you body and soul?

I have two:-
My first is the Morgan Greer, I'm still not sure what it is about this deck that keeps my interest, maybe its because for the first time ever I could read with a deck right from the box. I love the colours used, very bold but not garish. I like the fact that there are no borders, many of the cards are face and upper body, expressions and eye colours are very evident, some of the cards are like paintings, their eyes follow you.
They are the perfect size for my hands. The cards are Rider Waite but also based on Paul Foster Case, so symbols are different from Rider Waite and the colours used are important. Its a good alround deck, has a shock card in the Devil lol, but apart from that its a very good deck to use for all people, spreads and questions. Its a deck you could very well learn with and never need to move on. It is 'the deck' I spent so much time looking for and I found it - 15 months after I first saw it. It is my comfort deck.
My second deck has to be the Golden - this deck gives me a thrill each time I take it out. There is so much happening on these cards that I'm still trying to get used to them. Their beauty just seems to shine off the cards. It has a really good feel about it. And again it seems to be a deck that is so close to Rider Waite that I can read with it straight from the box but the extra symbolism on the cards has me reaching for a symbol dictionary. lol - Again its a perfect size and the backs remind me of some wallpaper I had in my bedroom when I was a child. I like the old feel that hangs about this deck and the fact that you can't tell that its collage.
I love both of these decks Morgan Greer first but the Golden is a very close second. :)

Le Carte delgi Elfi
Faerie's Oracle
Gilded Tarot
Le Carte delgi Elfi - While I have ordered this one, I haven't yet gotten it.. the images are deliciously beautiful!
Faerie's Oracle - Never have I gotten so much out of one little box of cards.. this set is truly AMAZING. I would rate this as a 'MUST HAVE' for everyone! Its given me insight that I never would have gotten from another deck..
Gilded Tarot - Same reasons everyone else has already mentioned :)

My only complaint is that it's printed on flimsy cardstock and is liable to majorly wear out after months of use. Does anyone has it and how do you preserve it?
Also Victoria Regina. It really speaks to me and keeps things real. With other decks, I feel like I'm masquerading.

Druid Craft
I don't have it yet - but I will soon :)
And why ?
Because there are many things in druidism I relate to.
Because the pictures are from real paintings.
Because he used a paint also used in the Renaissance that gives the deck a warm glow (can you tell I read the interview - LOL)
Because it depicts the old Celtic culture which is closer to me than, say, native American, and therefore touches me more personally.
Because the artist also made the gorgeous Druid Animal Oracle
Because I knew I would love it when I saw the first picture.
This deck will be my Halloween gift to myself :) but maybe I will get it *a bit* sooner.

If I am limited to only one, I would have to say definetly the Cosmic Tribe. I bought this deck as a collector piece (1st deck to ever have 3 lovers cards), but from the moment I opened it in 2001 the deck has been my primary deck. It gives me the most brutal straight forward readings I could ask for, and I am to this day still discovering new things when I look at the cards. This was definetly THE DECK for me. There are others I love, but when I want to do a serious reading this is the deck that I always think about with anticipation to its response.

The deck that is hitting my g-spot at the moment is the Golden Tarot. I just love looking at the cards, and I love the feel of the cardstock. It’s very firm, and the matt coating on it feels just the slightest bit rippled.
My brother said that if I ever read at a ren fair this deck would be perfect!
The other deck that hits my g-spot is my Victoria Regina.

Oh, definitely the Spiral Tarot. I was first blown away by the majors and HAD to have to have it. Then I did some research and found people who were not happy with the minors. Hmm.. Luckily, I found a site where I could look at every card and determine for myself how I felt about the minors. It was love at first sight--I found the drawings emotional and evocative. I ordered it and am still waiting impatiently for it, getting my fix through computer images until I have the actual cards. :D

The International Icon Tarot!!
This deck completely seduced me too. I had no idea how wise and wonderful a partner it would turn out to be. But it slowly took over my readings. I even DREAM about this deck. And it just keeps getting better and better.
Though I fear I'm something of a Tarot slut. I am also driven into paroxysms by the Gilded and the Quest. But the International Icon keeps hitting the spot in surprising ways.

There are numerous threads in which people name their favourite decks, etc. But what I am interested is THE deck which is sending you into tarot-orgasm overdrive at the moment: you know the one... the deck which makes you salivate at the mere thought of it! The deck which send you into excitement with anticipation.

Yeah, as a whole, I don't connect much with the Gilded, but I love the exuberant sexuality of that card. And I find that the dolphins in that particular picture are a more graphic depiction of sexual energy than the embracing couple: the phallic shape, the skin glistening with wetness, the way their free and exuberant leaping out of the water captures the feel of sexual release... which is reflected in the passionate expressions of the couple. There's just such a feel of abandon to the card.
And as for G-spot decks, the deck on my wishlist which is currently hitting my spot is the International Icon. The deck I already own which really hits the spot is the Navigators of the Mystic Sea. They have some things in common: the androgynous, colorful figures make the deck less restricting and exclusive. The use of color to evoke the energy and mood of the cards is incredibly well-done in both decks. Both also focus on posture as an expression of the energies and themes of the cards, though Navigators also boasts some of the most human and communicative facial expressions I've ever seen in the tarot. Both decks are incredibly crisp, clear, consistent, and focused, with no sloppiness in the art, which is a must for an obsessive-compulsive neat freak like me. Navigators is quite complex with many symbolic images and references in the Majors, while the key aspect of the International Icon is simplicity, but each in their own way reveals subtler dimensions of the cards that makes them feel more spacious in scope of meaning.
Perhaps the thing they both most have in common for me is that the both inspire me to want to gush on about them for pages...

Yes. It has full colour reproductions and very detailed information on the Majors with no much information on the Minors. I never bought it because it's expensive to buy when it has only minimal information on the Monors. Plus, I like to figure out the meaning myself.

Oooooh, I was going to say that one! I've been salivating ever since I first saw it. Another of my little guilty pleasures for the moment is Vargo's Gothic Tarot. I never expected to fall in love with it, but I did. It just has this certain wispy, brooding quality. It's so sensuous and also very serious at the same time. I'm so used to the cheese factor running off the charts in other "gothic" and "vampire" decks. But this one's absolutely perfect.

So, please... name the deck, and your reasons as to why it evokes such a strong reaction!
