Oh no, I bought another deck....

So I did it again... I bought another deck.. I've bought three decks in the last two months (earlier bought Radiant RW and Golden Tarot)...

This time I've surprised myself. I went out to find a nice portable sized deck since my other decks are so large. After reading stuff here (ignoring the 'fluffy bunny'-stuff this time) and thinking about it, I decided to give Hanson-Roberts a chance.

I have earlier dismissed this deck referring to it as the 'Giant Head Deck' :D but when I saw it in the store (my first visit to a local metaphysical shop), I wanted it. Or it wanted to come home with me!

The Hanson-Roberts deck is far more beautiful than I thought it would be, the scans didn't do justice to it! And I don't think it is too sugary and sweet. I'm going to carry this deck with me, I really like the size and the artwork!!!

3 decks in 2 months?! Be grateful its that!

I once bought 8 decks in one week! (there was some BARGINS on ebay though - well thats what i keep telling myself lol)

The hanson-roberts seems like that - maybe i should check it out again?! :)

I totally agree. This was my first-deck, and I still love it. I always say that it gets a rough time from a lot of people, but when they finally have the deck in their hands, they succumb to its charm. Oooo. ;)

Don't feel bad about buying another deck Aure! I have managed to obtain five of them since the beginning of the year. Ha!

I have several decks but the HR has been my main working deck for the past year. Of course, I bought the Medieval Scapini yesterday, but still...:D A couple words of warning about the HR. This deck doesn't tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to know. It's pretty blunt. At least it is with me. Enjoy it.

i had carried a deck once or twice before with me but when i got the hanson roberts, i knew it had to be in my handbag. it just shouted at me that's where it wants to be ;)

i'm glad you like this deck, i was quite offended by your naughty comments on the queen of pentacles in an earlier thread :D

different decks for different purposes and different moods. i've learnt to live with myself and accepted that...

hello, my nickname is kissa and i'm a tarotholic...

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my H-R deck...a friend decided to give hers away and I jumped at the chance to take it off her hands!

I really think I'm going to enjoy this deck. Looking at the pix online gives me hope that this deck might actually make sense to me. I'm having major blocks lately.

Here it comes... My own words in 'the decks you love to hate'-thread:

I don't like photographic decks, decks with very dull color and looking like someone colored them with pencils in a hurry or decks with a silly theme (Tarot of Baseball?)..

Hmm... I'm thinking, the heads aren't as big as I thought... Maybe an average 'movie star caliber' :D Sheesh, what's this thing with heads? Even my signature... Well, I have a pretty good idea how big MY head is, it's huge!!! :D :D

it honours you to be able to admit you made a HUGE mistake concerning the HR ;)

Forget about ther head, look at the kind glance and the fluffy bunny on the Queen of Pentacles :D :D :D })

I too was very surprised to like this deck. I didn't like it at first (like the Robin Wood) when i watched the scans and then it was on and off my wishlist for long.

Do yourself a favour, get a copy of the Universal Waite by Mary Hanson Roberts and start collecting serioulsy ;) ...

You might want to have a look at older threads such as "You know you're a tarotholic when...", i think there are several of that kind ;)

Tee Hee, Aure

Just wait until you buy three at a time and that's a slow day!! I became a deck junkie long, long ago - my wish list grows every time I read a post about a deck I haven't worked with before. I do like the size of the Hanson Roberts - and can't wait for the new pocket sized Universal to come out - Universal is my favorite of the Rider type. Each new deck is like discovering the Tarot all over again - always adding some new insight. One thing I learned was to trust myself about what decks I want - early on I tended to shy away from decks that more knowledgeable folks seemed to look down on - now I go with my feelings about the deck. If you have a metaphysical store near you that is as "user friendly" as mine is, you will never be without good advice and good direction on decks to select.

HAHAHA! I am PML at that wig-comment! :)

Hey, I too thought this deck was a little too cutesy when I first saw it. I reckon that everyone should be made to have a copy of it in order to see it for the little gem it really is. Haha.

I'm seriously on my way to total tarotholism... :D Don't tell my husband that I have my eyes set on Medieval Scapini, Old English, Pocket Universal Waite, pocket Visconti, Fournier if I ever find it... That goes for Scapini's Shakespeare Tarot too, hard to find when you ain't got a credit card...

I don't seem to be able to settle down with any one deck, I have to have one for every occasion and state of mind... :D

Unfortunately I also have a bad habit of buying books all the time because I have to have something to read all the time!! And there's also crystals... My hubby knows I've got the hots for a nice rock crystal ball but he told me that if I still feel like I have to have one next fall, he'll buy it for me!!! Like my craving would go away, hah!!

Maybe this is a larger problem than I let myself know... I always collect stuff; rare houseplants, books, rocks, you name it!!
