Another Deck Tally coming soon!

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 23 Apr 2004, and now archived in the Forum Library.

Mimers  23 Apr 2004
Hi everybody,

I plan on doing another deck tally in about 2 weeks. There are so many new members now, it will be interesting to see what everyone has and what the most poplular are.

Now, I know that not everyone has listed their decks. So if you want your list included please post it in the next two weeks. Also, if your list is different please go and edit your original post.

Please everyone read Demonesse's guidelines which are listed on the first post. They are all designed to make this easier for me when I do the tally. There is a lot of copying and pasting involved and if you follow the guidlines, it will be much easier! Thanks! :D

And in the spirit of making my friend Mimi's job even easier, here is the link to the Deck Listing:

Ooh, Mimi, that sounds like fun, but a lot of work!

Say, is it easier for you if there aren't any numbers before the decks? I have my list numbered, but if it helps, I'll edit them out.

Looking forward to the results! :)

Maan  23 Apr 2004
Its time i entered this list. ;)
Trying to write down all my decks now. I did not realize i had so many...

Good luck Mimers with this hughe task!

Love

Yes, Savoyali, that makes it tremendously easier! Thank you for asking.

Gardener  23 Apr 2004
ooooh, I can't wait to see the tally!

I just edited mine a couple days ago, so I must've know that you were about to do this, Mimers. This will be my first time seeing it. Thanks for making the tally, you're a gem!

Osher  23 Apr 2004
I suppose it will be difficult where people have different names for the same deck (Giger or Thoth/Crowley) or mis-spell names. Just to make life interesting, I have a deck I can't name! Also the different variation of the TdM, especially where the variation is not named!

However, really I am just offering my services as an spreadsheet number cruncher, if you need help.

Mimers  23 Apr 2004
Thank you Happiness for your offer. It is true that I might have some problems with the different names. I definitally was in the last tally. Gerbear has offered his expertease here and will check it out for me.

As for the different versions of the TdeM, URW and Thoth, I lump them all together.

2 weeks to go.

And thank you Dan for putting up the link! I don't know what I didn't think of that.

Mimi

Nycelle  24 Apr 2004
I'll edit my list now, Mimers. Good luck! :)

Osher  24 Apr 2004
Well thanks to Tarot Garden, I can now name my un-named deck as the Element Deck. Still a crude deck though. Just need a name for the Howard Deck?

Phoenyx*  24 Apr 2004
I've editted mine as well.

Cocobird55  24 Apr 2004
Thank you, Mimi

It is a lot of work, and I appreciate you doing it.

genna  28 Apr 2004

You could go back to your original and just edit them all out and leave the one you just did. How does that sound?

Mimi

BTW, it is my pleasure.

galadrial  29 Apr 2004
Hi Mimers,

I tried the search engine, but wasn't able to come up with the results of the last tally you did. Is it still available to view, and if so, what should I look under?

Mimers  29 Apr 2004
Hi Galadral,

The last tally I did was June of last year and was in the original thread that Kiama started. This one will be a lot smaller than the last one. We have much fewer people listing their decks this time.

I will go and see if I can find the original for you.

Mimi

galadrial  29 Apr 2004
Thanks Mimers, but I can save you the trouble now that I know what thread it is in:-) Also, thanks so much for all the work. Now that I've read it I'm amazed at how much work it must have taken to compile it.

For anyone else interested in the previous tally, the link is: www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6714&perpage=10&pagenumber=26

Mimers  02 May 2004
Thanks everyone who cleaned up or added their lists! I am going to start the tally tomorrow, so this is your last chance to post your list of decks on the forum!

I am looking forward to seeing the results!

Thanks,
Mimi

Mimers  03 May 2004
OK, it has officially started! I will keep you posted! :D

SongDeva  03 May 2004
I just added it.
Tally! Tally like the wind!

Please tell me it's not too late for my buddha. It's so cute.

Mimers  03 May 2004
Well.....OK, I haven't gotten to you yet, so ya lucked out :D

Go ahead and update your original post.

SongDeva  04 May 2004
I'm updated.
Whew, yeah, I'm on page 12. hehehehe

Thanks mimster.

Mimers  05 May 2004
I am almost done!

Just need a little help from everyone. If you see your name below, please let me know who the author is for your deck. The reason being more than one deck with the same title and I have no idea which one you have.

Just post to this thread with your answer and if you wouldn't mind change it on your list too, to make it easier next time.

I am not trying to single anyone out, just think this will be quicker than sending out all those pm like I did in the past! Thanks guys and gals!

Amy -

You listed the Arthurian for me - it is the Matthews version. Wasn't aware there were any others (besides the Legend Arthurian which I also listed).

Hope that helps.

Yup Dan, thanks a lot! With the Authurian, I do like to make sure it isn't the Legend Authurian. For some reason, I didn't notice you had that one too. That makes it rather silly for me to have asked.

Thanks Dan!

Asher  06 May 2004
Ditto the Arthurian - mine is the Matthews version.

Re: the Tarot of Baseball, this is the USG deck by Robert Kasher (book) & Beverley Ransom (art).

Asher

SongDeva  06 May 2004
Arthurian Tarot ...Caitlin Mathews.

It is NOT: the Legend or the Avalon...the title is the Arthurian.

Tarot of Baseball ...is the out of print one, US games, Robert Kasher

Baseball Tarot...is the big one that was selling on BN for $5. Mark Lerner

I don't know of any others, hope this helps for others listing baseball decks.

Thank you so much Amy, for taking on this monumental task!

jmd  06 May 2004

Mimers,

Here are the answers to your author question on the following decks in my collection:

Golden Dawn - by Robert Wang
Universal Tarot - by Maxwell Miller

Mimers: Thank you so much for your efforts in compiling the tally from all of our lists!! And thanks to all of you Aecletics for posting your collections. It's wonderful to see the commonalities and uniqueness of our shared passion for Tarot!

Mimers  06 May 2004
You are so welcome everyone! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

jmd  06 May 2004
Another quick note to a question you didn't ask: my 'Paris' Tarot is the reproduction Marseille-style deck, not the more recent (and yet to be acquired) Tarot de Paris made by J.P. Thomas ('JPT' on Aeclectic) from photographs taken in Paris...

Glad you mentioned that jmd, because I had assumed the latter. I will fix it right away.

I have everything pretty much ready, Gerbear had volunteered to look it over for 'doubles', but it seems every time I try to send him the excel file he can not open it. So I will post it as is and then maybe folks could alert me to any errors. Then I will just edit my posts and the spreadsheet.

Thanks again everyone!

Mimi

Mimers  06 May 2004
OK, I've updated based on the above info.

Songdeva, thanks for that tip on the Baseball Tarots!
