Buckland Romani or Cosmic...

I'm deeply drawn to both of these decks but need to choose one for now. I was in love with the Cosmic and going to get it but stumbled upon the Romani in the process and now I'm torn. Love to hear your experiences with these two. Maybe it'll "ease the pain" of having to choose just a bit;).

For what it's worth, the Buckland-Romani is a little harder to acquire, and its fans seem to treasure it.

I personally like the Cosmic tarot more than the Romani deck. I like the old time movie stars and the artwork of the Cosmic quite a bit. One thing that turned me off the Romani was the Handged man card. Which is a DOA rabbit hanging upside down (if I remember correctly) and being a big animal person I just couldn't get past that poor critter.
I woudl say do a search online and look at as many cards as you can from each deck :)

I'm not familiar with the other deck, but I've had this one for about 10 days now and am loving it! It's cliche, but it has such a magical, dreamlike quality to it, the colours are gorgeous and it's different enough it makes me work for interpretations but I always find something new and interesting. I don't have the Cosmic, but it looks interesting.
I do have the Buckland Romani, and it is one of my favorite decks for reading. I always get very clear, straight to the point answers when I read with it.
Of course, you could always get both of them. :-)

Hi all,
I have both of these decks and they are both very good. It would be hard to choose between them! I would agree with Dolphingirl that you should look at as many cards as you can before making a decision. I would like to make some comments about the book that comes with the Buckland-Romani. A lot of people don't like this book, but I do! It doesn’t always come out and tell you the actual meaning of a card. Instead, it asks a bunch of questions (such as: Why is this object on the card? What's beside the river? Where is the wagon going? Etc., etc.) These questions really made me look at the card more closely and they helped me find the meaning in the picture. If you have the time to actually go through the book, you will learn a lot. The Cosmic Tarot’s book is more like the standard book that comes in many boxed sets. But, the best book in the world won't help you much if you don't like the cards so go with it! Good luck and let us know which one you choose.

I don't have the Buckland Romani but from what I've seen of it on-line it looks gorgeous. I don't know anything about Romani culture and that has put me off getting it.
The Cosmic is a lovely deck. The court cards are especially good IMO because they look like real people so you can really put a personality to them easily, even if you're not familiar with that particular movie star.
One thing I would say about the Cosmic is that it seems to use Thoth interpretations rather than RWS which I think makes a nice change.
My advise would also be to get them both :)

As someone mentioned, the Romani appears to be out of print, so if you think you want to read with it someday, it might be good to get it now.
Sulis, the set comes with a book that discusses romani culture. I don't think you need to avoid it just cause you might want to learn a bit.
I did a reading that was very illuminating for mimers this w/e, with the Romani.
And we discussed what Zorya said....this has to be the Deck with the Hottest Guys!!!! :)))
The lovers card is pretty intense too, at least I think so. Mimers wasn't as impressed.

Okay that settles it! I just ordered the Buckland Romani:). As soon as I saw it was out of print I placed my order cause I know for sure it's one of the decks I want to have in my collection. I have seen quite a few of the cards from the deck and they have all spoken to me deeply. I especially liked the 3 of swords and yes the guys are hot....hot hot in fact. Reminds me of this beautiful boy I see at the gym.....I think it's going to be my love deck......and that lovers cards..well......anyway..........thanks everyone for your help. I really would have kicked myself if I waited too long and wasn't able to get it. I'll get the Cosmic a little later on.
