Deck of the Week

Here is something I was just thinking of, and I didn't see a thread on it previously.

How many of you have purchased a deck because you saw it when it was listed on the AT Deck of the Week feature?

Off-hand, I can think of two - the TAO Oracle and the Roots of Asia.

They're often very tempting, aren't they? :D

I haven't bought any yet, but at least two of those on my Wishlist I picked up from that feature--the Spiral (that Wheel Of Fortune just got me instantly) and the Vikings (I think it was the Queen of Cups there).

Fun question, Dan, thanks!

The Spiral is one of my least favorite decks, and one of the first I owned. I just got the Vikings ...... still not too sure about this one. I do like the Court Cards, but am not sure about the "total package".

Now I'm curious, any particular reason you don't like the Spiral? I'll definitely give it a shot at some point (perhaps even quite soon, US Postal Service willing ;) ), the artwork just seems to be right up my alley.

The Vikings being an LS deck, I had suspected somthing of the sort, for some reason they seem to be either an aquired taste or turn out to be so/so. However, good court cards always count for something, I'm happy to hear those work there :)

I go so rarely over to the Main side of Aeclectic that unless someone posts something that draws me there, I am usually totally ignorant of the things there.

The Spiral is a popular deck. I do like the coloring and I enjoy alot of the cards. The size is nice too, for a small deck. I don't know, there were a few cards which annoyed me and I think that is what did it. It is a Celtic Pagan deck, which drew me to it originally, but we just never connected. Maybe someday it will, but currently it resides in the bottom of my Tarot Bag (and it is a BIG bag, lol).

I think I may end up liking the Vikings. Actually, I have become quite a fan of the LS decks. Some really hit for me when I am in the right mood. I am at a crossroads in my reading right now. I hope to sit down and spend some quality time with my decks to see which ones are going to stay close to me on my journey. They all have a special place in my heart, but I am hoping to take the plunge and start doing readings professionally soon, so it is time to get off the fence and get serious about my decks.

The Spiral may be for you - I hope it is. Look forward to your impressions and your experiences in readings.

Yup, I bought the Golden when it was featured. It's a nice idea, to kind of be FORCED to broaden my horizons! I ended up trading it, not because I disliked it, but I wasn't connecting with it and figured so many ppl love it, I'd give it to a better home!

Not specifically the deck of the week, and lately I've been shddering to go to the Decks section, since my wishlist is long enough!! Every time I go there it gets longer and longer...

lol closrapexa:D :D and I moderate this Forum! That means that I have to read every post. sigh. Have you looked at my deck list? hehe, I think I ask to go and moderate Technical Questions or Suggestions. :D :D

I haven't yet bought a deck because I saw it featured, but I did really like the look of the Tao Oracle (by the same person who designed the Osho Zen), and it's crept onto my wish list by dint of being a 'deck of the week'.
It's been hovering in my thoughts ever since, surfacing every now and again. I keep trying to resist 'cos I have lots of bills to pay at the moment, but I don't suppose I'll be able to hold out forever ;)

I am completely taken by this week's-- the Ananda Tarot. I'm going to convince my wife to get it for me for my birthday. :D I'll only have to wait a month and a half....

There's been lots of others that were very tempting, but at the moment I want to hone down my collection a bit (yeah, sure }) )

fly well (with blinders at times)

Yeah the Ananda looks nice, doesn't it....!

Mmmmm... Ananda.... drool!
There should definitely be an emoticon for drooling on this forum!

For anyone intrested I have a copy of the German version of the Ananda for sale in the Trading Tarot forum. It is a beautiful deck.

Marion  04 May 2004
I have the Ananda. In German, but I have long since figured out the German versions of tarot names so no problem. It is a yummy deck, you could just fall into the images.
