Mimers:
May you please tell something about it,? Is this deck has the standar meanings or is completely different? I don't have any native american tarot decks, but I'm draw in this one. I like indians a lot since I was a little girl. I really appreciate any comments.
thanks,
Mar

MAR,
I too have been enthrawled with Native American Cultures since I was a child. The Vision Quest deck is not based on the Spiritual beliefs of any one Native American Culture. To quote the author's own words,
The images in this deck are gentle, yet powerful; simple, yet profound; and quite simply beautiful.
The Pip cards are parcially illustrated, yet full of meaning. The court cards are beautiful as well.
This has always been one of my favorite decks.
I don't think you will be dissapointed.
Blessings,
Mimi

It is a beautiful deck. Actually, it wasn't on my wishlist, but SongDeva had to go and do a reading for my fiancee, and she loved it. So, what the fiancee wants, the fiancee gets (but I get to play with the deck, not her, hehe).

Yes, Mar, it really is a beautiful deck, particularly if you're attracted to things Native American. As Mimers & the deck's author point out, it doesn't represent any group specifically. I think of it more as a gentle reflection.
You know, I've never given much thought to how 'traditional' (or, not) it is as a tarot deck. I've never, for example, compared it to Thoth (is it a clone??) The Little White Book is wonderfully written at any rate, though, in spite of it being a different sort of deck from RWS (if that's what you're used to). I've never had any problem understanding these cards.

MAR, it's a gorgeous deck, you can't go wrong with it. I bought it recently and it's fast becoming one of my favourites. Very VERY readable, and so easy on the eyes. Enjoy!
Oh, and welcome to Aeclectic by the way, don't think I've seen you around before now.
bright blessings,
Kate

It was never on my wishlist, but when I saw it on the trading forum, I went looking on AT and found it - had to snap it up!
It is gorgeous, easy enough to use and it has depth. If you don't like it, you'll have no trouble finding a trade or a sale for it!

Yes, it is Thoth based apparently.
I'd been using the deck for ages and didn't know this til I read it here, even though I have the thoth. :) For instance, Strength is 11, Justice is 8.
The colors are just so beautiful and unique, and you get the feeling that the people speak to you telepathically. At least I do. Am I the only one hearing the voices? heheheheh
