The style makes me think of the Winged Spirit tarot, but I don't have that deck so I'm not sure.
Good luck!

I looked at the copyright page from the Amazon site that you linked to, and I found that the cover art was by Robert M. Place, so I searched for him and tarot on Amazon and came up with Tarot of the Saints.
Check it out: Tarot of the Saints
Does that seem right?

Hi Stardeveloper,
It's from a new deck that Robert M. Place is working on. He is creating a deck in the style of the pre-Raphaelite artist Burne-Jones. He will call it the Tarot of the Seven-Fold Mystery.
It's going to be incredibly beautiful, isn't it?
His website is thealchemicalegg.com
He even just joined Aeclectic last week, although I don't know how much he'll be around.
Do you enjoy the book?

I did not realize the cards on the covers of the Llewellyn Special Topics in Tarot Series were from a new deck. That is great news. I will have to go check out the site to see if there is any info on when the deck will come out.

Ah Khatruman,
When I saw stardeveloper's question, I knew I'd have to type fast if I wanted to be the first to answer. But I paused to make sure I was spelling Burne-Jones' name right and you arrived on the scene before me. At least I did have something to add!
Do you have any of Place's tarot decks yourself? I have been looking and looking for a copy of the Alchemical, and was close to giving up when Jeannette of the Tarot Garden called with a copy. But I know the Seven-Fold Mystery is the deck of his I'm going to love. He and I are both long-time fans of pre-Raphaelite mood, and I'm lucky he's chosen to develop the style into a deck. In his interview at Tarot Garden, he explains that he has discovered a number of Burne-Jones' paintings which tie into tarot symbology. Cool, huh?

Thanks Gardener.
This surely looks to be a wonderful deck and I can't seem to wait when it is finally out.
I'll keep an eye on it, thanks again. As for the book, I don't have it but from the sample chapter at Amazon, looks nice.

Gardener, I have owned both The Tarot of the Saints and the Alchemical. I liked both decks, just not as much as other decks. Perhaps if I would have dug deeper into alchemy as I had originally planned to, or done looked more into the Tarot of the Saints for symbolism. But in the end I always ended up working with other decks. I would love to hear your opinions on either or both if you get them.

Hi Jewel,
At the risk of coming off as a total nerd, I will mention that the covers of two of the Special Topics in Tarot feature cover art by Brian Williams, from his Minchiate Tarot.
There is one other Robert Place cover, on Tarot Tips, but I'm not sure from which of his decks.

And hi again, Jewel,
This is fun! Yes, many people have said that after spending time with the Alchemical they found themselves not as drawn to it as to more intuitive decks. Of course, not having seen it yet, I am a froth of anticipation and expectation. But even more, I'm interested in the development of the pre-Raphaelite deck. Although alchemy is an interesting topic, it doesn't have the emotional resonsance of the dreams of the pre-Raphaelites. Their mysticism is something that will meld beautifully with the clean lines of Place's elegant art.
And yes, I will be delighted to share my alchemical experience with you, once my deck finally arrives!

hello nerdie,
let me be one too (nerdie that is):
the cover of the Tarot Reversals by M. Greer in the Special Topics is from Brian Williams. The cover of Tarot for Self Discovery by Nina Lee Braden is also by Brian Williams.
The cover of Tarot Tips is by Robert Place as well, and the cover of Understanding the Tarot Court is by Lauren O'Leary (World Spirit).
Cannot help for the rest in the Special Topics in Tarot series as i don't own them..

ooooh, I can't wait for that deck to come out, either! I was afraid, at first, it might have been from the out of print Alchemical. I love Mr. Place's artwork, though, the more the better!

I just got the Understanding the Tarot Court book by Mary K. Greer.....
The cover art is by Lauren O'Leary, illustrator of the World Spirit Tarot....BUT it is not the card from that deck!!! In the WST, the Page of Pentacles is known as the Seer of Pentacles, and the picture is completely different....
I don't know if this means she has a new deck coming out or if the card/illustration was created specifically for the book cover....

For all you Robert Place fans, did you know that you can purchase prints of his card for the Sevenfold Mysteries deck from his website? I think they are only 20 ea.
He also has been to the forum and has a thread going if you have any questions for him.

I have met him in person and have seen the prints for this new deck and they are gorgeous! I love the Star in particular. He apparently does not yet have a publisher for this deck!
