I need the measurements of various large decks.
I have a large Thoth and I have Voyager that is also large.
But there are other decks out there and I don't know if those decks have different measurements.
Thicker card stock would make one deck 'taller' than another.
So-
if you have a large deck, I'd like to know the three (Length, Height, Width) measurements needed to make cozy bags.

Hi luna!!!
I think you can find the deck dimensions for most decks at Joan Bunning's website:
http://learntarot.com
I know that she has a great selection of decks there....
she lists the length and width but not thickness, but it would give you something to go on....
The other great thing about her site is that she shows pictures of the card backs, so you can match the colors to the fabric....
Hope this is helpful!!!
:) Luna (the other one, hehehe)

PS: I can give you the measurements for the large Thoth and Voyager decks:
Thoth: 5 3/4 x 3 7/8 x 1 1/4
Voyager: 5 1/2 x 3 3/4 x 1 1/4

The Victoria Regina is 3 3/4" X 5 5/8" but I don't know how thick it is.

Aha! I've got the longest deck of all!:D
The Flying Hearts Tarot (and don't tell me you've never heard of it)(eat your heart out) is 6 & 1/4" long X 3 & 7/8" wide X 1" tall. How come the puny Thoth and Voyager are taller?

The dimensions on U.S. Games' "Giant Rider-Waite" deck are 4" x 6.5".
If you're looking for BIG tarots, they come a LOT bigger -- but then, when you get too much bigger than the ones mentioned thus far, you're really moving out of the "card" classification and more into "art prints."

The largest deck I have (briefly) owned was the Light and Shadow tarot. Its dimensions are 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", according to Joan Bunning's site. They've found a nice home among the cats in Prague. :)

dear dear--- I need the thickness- that is the key part to the bags I make.
Most bags that I have seen are two sides put together, a 'flat' bag so to speak a bag with two corners. {bag in picture- on the left}. When the deck is inside the bag, the corners stick out.
Now I may be a Capricorn 3x over- but Virgo beats the goat by one, I like my corners neat- lol
The bags I have been making are pretty much a cloth box {been making 'real' cloth boxes too}. The pattern I have makes the bag have 4 corners- it's a square bag. Decks fit neatly in it's bag.{bag on right in picture}
the green bag holds the big green Thoth, and the purple bag holds Voyager-

The largest deck I have is the Genovesi, which is 14" X 7 1/2" X 1/2"

Which brings up another thought--do you want to make the bags big enough to hold a deck/book set also? Or just the decks?

That is clever, the way you've done the corners. Did you make the pattern up?

YES!
One of the first bags I made to test my pattern {for versatility in making different sizes} was the World Spirit deck set.
This pattern works for all mini kits like the Oz, Golden Dawn Magical, Faery Wicca & Nigel Jackson.
The pattern comes from a combination of patterns I have done in the past as well as just having sewn for years. I learned the technique for a reversable bag from making reversable hats, with all stitching being internal except for the trim for the drawstring.
